Vader Costume...

<div class='quotetop'></div>
According to the person thaty sold it to me, its Phoenix armor, cast yoff of the hero armor in ESB.[/b]

They lied to you... PV armour is a sculpt by Pheonix Vader. It's very nice armour and the next best thing to GH. But it isn't made from screen-used stuff. I'd have a word to the guy who said that to you, he lied. (Unless I'm wrong and I'm pretty sure I'm not. :p)

To be honest, I know little of the various 'sources' of the Armors. This one FITS me, appears to be the correct size, and I am pleased with it. But its good to know a little more about its history.

Yeah, it's great armour and you look cool.

And sorry if it seems I was saying it's not good - just wanted to let you know that it's not what the person said.

:)

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Callum regarding the PA....that said tho, it now looks lightyears better than the smaller set that you previously had. :thumbsup ...

Oh yes. I am very pleased with it. Next trick.. Dare I attempt to mount a Cape Hook on it?

If you are going for the ROTJ look then yes by all means.

Its simple to do it with a Dremel. Take your time, thats all.

More Pictures. Here is my Vader, save for the outer cape. Little things to be done here and there, but, *I* think I look great. (The inner cape does NOT have the darts sewn in yet)

Comments, and Criticisms are very welcome.

The pictures aren't the best quality. But you can get a real good feel for it.

Hey all,

I'm the guy that sold the armor to SHalamar.. I wasn't trying to deceive anybody, that was what I was told. I even contacted PV himself to verify and it seemed to match up with what he was saying.. I've only seen one set of PV armor and that was the C3 Vader who is in my Garrison (Bloodfin).

I have a set of JB's ROTJ Armor/Bucket and it pretty much matched up with mine.. :thumbsup

Again sorry for any confusion :$

No worries. I love the armor, and it looks great.

And.. Anyone know where I could find a hook on the armor, and where on the armor should it go?

It's looking great. Is it just me or does the way the shoulderbells are attached look more like ANH than RotJ? I thought the top of the bells were attached directly to the chest armor in both ESB and RotJ. Or am I mistaken?
A real improvement, which I think I have commented on before. You'll make a great Vader. :thumbsup

Hope this helps a little. It's from the MGM exhibit - not my picture. Unfortunately don't know where to get the hook.

Good luck in your quest.

They were attached directly to the chest in ROTS. ESB and RotJ were attached the same as ANH. Look at the scene in ESB where Vader chokes out Ozzel, you can clearly see the bells hanging down.

I also like the armor, I think you'll make a good Vader.

Actually I believe the ESB shoulders were attched in both ways. There certainly are some shots where you can see the bells hanging out from under the shoulder amour, but they're mounted onto the sides during the "don't make me destroy you." scene. Vader's cape has blown back which gives you a good view of his right shoulder.

Jedi was the same. I can't think of a scene off the top of my head where the shoulder bells where mounted like ANH. :)

Love the getup SHalamar, especially the reddish brown tint to the eye lenses.

I can help with ROTJ style cape hooks.

They were old brass curtain hooks, basically just a length of wire bent around on itself and crimped at the rear. You need to untwist the wire at the back carefully to thread it through the hole in your shoulder armour without distorting the straight section you see on the outside.

At one time I had a handful of old and slightly tarnished hooks that had gone dark brown with age making them look identical to the real ones, but all I have left now are shiny new ones. Drop me a PM if you like and I'll see if I can find them :)

You certainly have the stature for Vader...apart from bringing the belt and cod higher up and aligning the beltbox boxes equally with respect to the belt it's coming along nicely.

I used gardening pads from Home Depot for my shoulder bells...made a big difference...

...and your belt buckle is facing the wrong way.
[/b]

Easy enough to fix THAT. Its velcroed. :p

My size is why I'm doing Vader. I'm 6'6" in bare feet, so Vader is a good fit. And thanks for the tip about the cod, and belt. I'll work on re-aligning them.

I'll get better with practice. Alas, I choose spring summer to complete my Vader.. Just when it will be too hot to wear for any length of time. Bah. :lol

Looking GREAT there, you've done well :thumbsup

I envy you, I'm a huge Vader fan but I'm too short to be Vader. From my waist up I'm slightly larger than the ESB measurements that have been posted, but I'm only 5ft 8in :cry

You will make a great Vader :)

Cheers,

Kraig

Thanks for the comments. :)

Currently working on the little things. Padding the shoulders, putting the pleats in the surcoat. Week, maybe two, and all will kbe done. (Well.. depending on the wife...)
