Vader armor size

Ok, I've noticed a lot of the Vader armor makes claims to be cast or recast or in some way derived from the original movie pieces correct? But wasn't David Prowse a giant of a man, ergo, unless you're huge yourself, won't the armor be oversized? Are there "scaled down" variants available?...Or does one just "trin to fit"? Thanks for any info!

I've seen three different sizes:

The cast from original.
The cast from original cut down.
Stunt size. (also cut down)

Ah,...thank you. That's something of a relief actually. I didn't want to end up looking like Dark Helmet from Spaceballs....

Capn,

Not sure what your height & weight are. I'm 6'5" and 245lbs. Prowse was two inches taller than me and the same weight, but certainly far more buffed than myself when he played the roll. He was a champion weight lifter and body builder. Me, I'm just a tall large actor. I was a little concerned the first time Lucasfilm had me put on the original costume. I was not certain I would fill it out enough in the chest and shoulders when I initially saw the suit (that's a funny tale in and of itself). It turns out the costume was a bit more forgiving than I expected. For that first official appearance I did for Lucasfilm as Vader Don Bies' wife Anna padded my chest just a bit with a folded towel we had on hand. Later she created a specially made padded T-shirt for me to wear. Eventually I built my own chest muscles up enough that I didn't require any padding at all.

Thanks much for the info. That actually gives me a good idea of what I need, since I'm only 6' even and 188lbs. I am a power lifter, so I have a good sized chest, but nothing near the dimensions to fill something sized for Mr Prowse. So, I guess it's one of the scaled down versions for me. Much obliged!

Bud there are people out there that are like 5'5 and STILL pull off prowse sized armor. Their arms look very short though... :lol (does anyone have a pic of that guy from a few years ago? I think he is from Japan?)

If you are around 6' all you need are some lifts in your boots and VOILA! Don't get smaller armor. Maybe stunt sized chest armor if you are more comfortable. But don't go with scaled down... You need to try some properly sized stuff first. I think you will be able to fill it out.

Trust me. I've seen way worse/

Hmmm,....guess I could try a full sized setup and see how it looks. My main problem is small bone structure. I may have packed a lot of muscle on over the years, but there's still the skinny kid's 135 pound frame underneath (you should see my little girly wrists,...makes it hard to get a decent watch band) I may just order up a set off of Ebay since no one's replying on my other post about who's currently making anything. Worst case, the stuff seems to sell pretty easy, so if it doesn't work out, I'll just resell it and try again. Thanks for the heads up!

A bit OT but seeing as you sound worried... If you need help filling out that armour try FST-7 as a lifting technique. Before an accident at work I was 6'1'' 215lbs with a 29'' waist. My wrists are only about 6.25'' in circumference too. I wear all my watches on the last hole and still some are loose so I think you're in the same boat as me.

It's one of those advanced tricks that really works for some people and helps fill out many costumes in the right way.

Just to be 100% clear I am not a personal trainer or medical practitioner, just giving a tip one lifter to another. Don't sue me if it goes wrong.

Wow,....that is the EXACT way I wear my watches. I'll look into the FST 7 thing, I'm always looking for new training techniques It's great to get advice from someone else who deals with this kind of thing. A lot of stuff fits awkwardly around the collarbone area because of the small skeletal structure, but I'm guessing you know that LOL.. Not sure how much "sculpting" I can do at 42 years old (('m not competitive anymore, just a hobby and keeping fit) but I'll give it a shot. THanks man!
