Ultimate Spider-man

Hi guys
Long time lurker first time thread creator.
I purchased a sewn Orhadar Ultimate Spider-man costume from fellow RPF member velazquezn36 which unfortunately for him was not sized correctly for him and didn't fit.

I'm about 5'4 (Shortest Spiderman?) 135-140 so going for something like this style with that type of lens and hopefully I can pull it off and the suit fits!

Will be posting pics once the suit is received!

I like that style frame but my favourite style was the Michael Bendis which look similar to Tjack's first version of the Amazing Spider-man 2 frame like Luna used, with the newer white lens instead of the mesh.

Gonna wait till I get the costume and see how everything fits, nothing is set in stone and I'm always open to ideas! I have a pretty small head so I hope I can pull any lens off without looking weird.

Thanks for the feedback..

Anxiously waiting for costume, found an old pair of pumas and decided to cut them up Amazing Spider-man style..

Don't know if I wanna paint these or get a pair of aqua shoes and use the sole.

Anybody have any feedback on the shoes? Should I use just the sole and not go the Amazing Spider-man route?

Can't wait to see what you do with the suit, since it didn't fit me.. Looks like you're getting right on the ball. Excited to see it when finished.

well,MannyP,first of all, can't wait to see the progress of your suit,2nd Of all the "Bendis" lenses, like you said,is in fact the bagley one,idk if you know that, but just in case & 3rd of all, does your suit will have that big back red spider symbol from the comics ?? (i ask you that,'cause i saw a spidey4fun ultimate suit which include both the classic/ultimate front spider & The Bagley/ultimate Back Spider).
oh,by the way,nice shoes.

The less noticeable the sole the better in my opinion, unless it's the film version. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Stick with the soles you got dude...You got pics of the underside? You could paint them up to match well
I still want to use these soles, but as this isn't an Amazing Spiderman suit I agree with having the least possible showing. Still waiting on the suit before I do anything more, the underside of the shoe is just black with two thin white stripes.

The less noticeable the sole the better in my opinion, unless it's the film version. Looking forward to seeing your progress!
I agree with this, if the soles I have do not work I am going to cut aqua shoes or use kung fu shoe soles.

I now realize that the frame and lens are the same style:) & Yes the suit does have the large red spider on the back, it is an Orhadar print that was sewn and did not fit another member and I was able to purchase it.

I got the lenses with the mesh - looking forward to see what difference the new clear lenses make :)
I decided to go with the mesh, the visibility on the new lens looked limited especially if I was in a dark area. Gonna shape them using the toy mask when I get them!

So brutal, it's a long weekend so it won't be here till Tuesday because there was a "Canada Post Error" It's like waiting for Christmas, but it will be awesome once it comes!!

I couldn't find the other style toy spiderman mask so I decided to go with this one and hopefully it will work for shaping the lens.

I also picked up a pair of scuba paddling socks which I think will be comfortable inside the suit

Thanks for the interest, stay tuned

Thanks for the tip MannyP. I was going to use either aqua boots, or 2 shoe insoles. Now instead I'm opting for a hybrid. Bought a pair of "flipper socks" for inside the suit, and will be using running shoe insoles for the sole on the outside.

Update..
Still haven't received the suit. There was an error at the post office and for some reason they are sending it back now. What a nightmare, stupid Canada Post!!!
It cleared customs August 28 and just sat at the post office..Thankfully Niko is doing everything he can to help me out and is being awesome.

On a brighter note I got my lens from Tjack!!
They look awesome..

I hope these larger frames work for my face, have to wait for the suit to find out =P

I also picked up some aqua shoes from the local swim store. I plan to cut these and glue the suit to them.

Stay tuned, updates are not as frequent as everything is on hold !

I ordered a face shell from Tjack to use for shaping instead of the Spiderman toy mask that I purchased, I feel that this will help me get the more accurate shape of the face.

This thing is freaking awesome, can't wait to have it under my mask!!

My costume was sent back to the sender after a shipping nightmare, and is on its way back to me using a better shipping company now =)

Hopefully I receive my suit this week so I can finally try it on....

Received my suit, amazing print, amazing sewing job.
The size unfortunately is too small for me, if it was maybe two inches more it would be perfect but I can't pull it over my shoulders.
I tried putting the feet in first, the head in first, the arms in first, it will always work until the last part.. it's impossible to get it on
I've never been so disappointed, after getting the lens and face-shell my heart is broken

:'(

Ok, this is like, a disturbingly common thing I'm hearing from people, and (not to knock you specifically)but I can't help but think that part of the problem is people not knowing how to put the suits on, rather than the suits not actually fitting. A properly fitted suit is difficult to put on at the best of times, and really tough if you've never done it before--remember, on the films they had a whole team of people helping Toby and Andrew get into the suits at first try, until eventually they got familiar with it and could do it by themselves. My first suit didn't seem like I could fit in it when I first tried, but I went and re-checked all the measurements and knew it was possible somehow. I eventually got the hang of it and suiting up is much more straightforward now. I'm trying to see if there's a video of someone suiting up, it's a little counter-intuitive.

Edit: I also went and looked at the original pictures from velazquezn36's thread, and he's simply wearing the mask wrong--he didn't pull it far enough forward so his face is caught in the neck area instead of the head area and feels too tight. Also, whoever sewed this suit forgot to close the neck dart, which would have made this issue more easily noticeable:
The suit fits him across the shoulders and through the limbs, so it wasn't extremely small for him, he just didn't put himself into it properly, and since you are shorter and smaller than he was, my gut says that you should fit without much issue.

Luna, the suit is not finished in that picture, the back zipper had not been added at that point in the picture. The neck dart is added on the final version that I have. I wish I read the caption that he did not have the suit fully sewn at the time of that picture because it looks extremely tight on him even before it was completed.

I appreciate your input but it's just I spent 2 hours trying to fit into this costume and I tried it several different ways(Putting the legs in first, putting the arms in first, putting the head on first, trying to lie down or crouch into it). I am definitely open to suggestions on how to get it on but the costume only has the zipper running down the back (I don't know if all suits are like that, I feel like if it had a side zipper I MIGHT be able to squeeze into it but it's just not happening) Although I am shorter than him my chest and shoulders are way too big to get into this without ripping it.
Anyways, suit is for sale for now..

Edit: Is there anyway to get rid of the back zipper and add a side zipper?

Right, but that's what I'm saying, it's NOT extremely tight on him, he's just wearing it wrong.

Ah. There's your problem.

Depends how much seam allowance is left. You could take it to a local seamstress or tailor and ask.

trophywife told me that's it's almost impossible to get into the suit with only 1 back zipper. mine has 2 zippers, one in the back and one across the back of the head, so they meet like a back-pack zipper. and still as Luna said it did take me sometime to put it on first.
