UC Glamdring; LotR VS Hobbit

Hey Guys,
Just a quick question, I'm thinking of buying the United Cutlery Glamdring Sword and I can't work out if there is any difference between the Lord of the Rings Glamdring and the Hobbit Glamdring, from the pics I've seen both look the same.

So other then the packaging and the UC number.. is there any difference between the two swords?

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

Thanks! I'm planning on buying Glamdring once I've saved up enough.

Yes, as a matter of fact I do. I have the Sting sword from the Hobbit and I just love it!

The blade material is actually identical to the original LOTR Glamdring made by United. That sword never really went out of production. This version is basically the same sword with new packaging and a different display. The only change to the sword itself is the small legal notice, and I spec'd a slightly shinier finish to the guard and pommel than the LOTR version, which was a bit too dull.

Hey man, you have both swords yeah? I'm thinking about picking up one of these but I'm still stuck on which one is better. Can you tell me your opinion, and compare things like build quality, craftsmanship, and overall feel and look quality? Cheers man :)

I have the UC Glamdring from the Lord of the Rings, not the Hobbit. I would suggest you get the original Glamdring from the LOTR era though yes, the mounting plaques are different, I fancy that the Hobbit plaques are slightly nicer. If not for perhaps the color of the handle and that, not much difference for Glamdring.

However, if you are considering buying The Sting, I strongly suggest you buy the LOTR version, not the Hobbit. The LOTR Sting comes with Elvish engraved which says "Maegnas sen non dagnir in yngyl im" which means, "Sting is my name, I am the spider's bane"

P/S I just picked up my Legolas Fighting Knives today (Hobbit version), slightly more details in the blade and handle than the first collection - very nice!
