Two days ago I saw a rigg big enough to haul that tanker...

so finally... almost a year after I started
the diorama I've been working on is just about finished
just some painting and decals left to do... and all 6 vehicles will be finished
I'm debating on adding one more.... but I wanna make sure I have room for it

what I thought would be a straight out of the box build turned out to be anything but...
on just about every vehicle

so here's the first shot of the rigg, and the base designed to go into a shelf that's built into a wall in my office

More pictures please. I've wanted to build a model of that truck for years. maybe I'll get around to it one of these days.

more are coming soon
I'm almost finished with the tanker
hopefully finished this weekend
then I'll post the whole truck

to build the rigg, be prepared to drop about $200
you'll need 2 different Mack kits, the Italieri accessories kit, and a lot of scratch building

here's a bit more of a tease for you then

hope to wrap this up this weekend too... though, I'll have to black out the decals....
it's base coated, and the weathering is just started

this should also answer the question as to why I was so POed that Hasagawa didn't have a VW engine in the Beetle kit...

this was a complete scratchbuild except the engine...
which by the way, was graciously donated by snowshoe-archangel
so mucho gracias to him once again

This is fantastic, mate. Are you going to paint 'earth' on the door of the truck? That gyrocopter is amazing.

Crank out those pics will ya?

Mike, Oz

"Earth" will be a decal

I've seen some where folks tried to hand paint it, and it never looks quite right...

I've got several decals to do, and I wanted to do them all at the same time...
it's easier that way

more pics this weekend, after I get some hobby time

Are you going to do the 'artwork' on the gyrocopter?

I've got the one of Karen Price. Man, I remembered her name off the top of my head.

I have all six of the centerfolds for the gyro
that was some interesting research :love

Karen Price is the one everyone sees prominently on the tail, but the ladies are in several places

Yes, she's very "prominent". I built the Mack truck once, with the same idea, but never finished it.

Care to Share the pics? For historical purposes of course.

Major Catastrophe struck...
I had to redo the whole road base....
Due to a basement leak in the model room, the original base got wet,
then swelled, at which point I thought it would be salvageable
then, the worst happened... the wood dried out... essentially popping all my hydrocal off the base

now THAT was a good time, and fun to clean up too

just 3 models left to finish for the big honking diorama
(1 is being painted... 1 is 90% built, and one is sitting in a box...)

but the 4 that are done are on the shelf... proudly displayed

now that the gyro is completed, can't do up close shots... sorry

Too damn cool! Well done. Maybe throw a couple of shot gun shells on the front hood?

I love the ultralight!
