Twi'Lek Headtail project WIP *Update*

Something I've wanted to try for awhile now, and now I find myself with an excuse (a friend who wants a pair). This is my first roughout of the sculpt. Just trying to get the details down on the top of the head. This was something that bothered me about most of the fan made Lekku I've seen is that they lacked the detail on the top of the head. In reference shots there seems to be a bony ridge down the middle and the tails come out next to that.

At this point I need to get some more clay before i do anything else. There's a deceptive amount here (8 lbs so far). I need to build upwards just a bit. There needs to be more mass on top of the head in general, but I'm liking the overall shape so far.

You sew AND sculpt?! I hate you double now! :lol

Lookin' good - can't wait to see more.:thumbsup

Re: Twi'Lek Headtail project WIP

Best of luck with it, off to a good start.

Have you considered using foam or plaster bandages to bulk it out before u apply the clay? Used this method for my Bib lekkus, worked very well.

I always thought that if you could find the right girls, to put on stuff like this and dance all night, you'd have the most popular club on the planet.

That looks nice. Very cool.

Re: Twi'Lek Headtail project WIP

I thought of that too. More of a go go dancing place than stripjoint.

Re: Twi'Lek Headtail project WIP

Had planned on more pics today. Sadly, I was tragically struck down last night...

With a bout of the lazies.:lol

Hopefully get some progress today. Watched the clone wars episode last night and am even more excited about this. Although I do have to say that I'm disappointed that Aayla didn't have anything different on her costume for the clone motif. I may end up making something up. I always felt her costume was a little lacking designwise in places. The shirt is ok, the belt is cool, but then she's wearing stretch pants and Wal-Mart boots. wtf? :unsure

Re: Twi'Lek Headtail project WIP

Been awhile since an update. Got kind of sucked up in responsibilities and such. took me away from my personal projects for awhile.

Anyway, I think I have the rough shape pretty much done. There are some minor changes, like lowering/shaving the top of the tail where it comes off the head. Still not sure if I should lengthen them any more. The length is deceptive on this head because the neck is so long, but the tails are about 18" from the base of the skull to the tips. In the end I think I may go 3 more inches.

More to come. I'm going to try to come back to this later tonight if time permits. Have to do several alterations for a show I'm designing in town first.

And here's the reference I've been working off

Her lekku look like they are to the middle of her back, I'd say you should lengthen them and thin them out a bit. Otherwise can't wait to see more progress.

Thanks Tony!

Decided to lengthen them a whole 5 inches. This will bring them to a to about waist level on the average female. It should also add to the illusion that they are thinner.

Feel free to add your input folks. I've been staring at these so long I can't see them anymore.

Lengthened them another 5" I'm happy with the length now. As I was posting this I noticed some shaping on top that I wanted to do, so I went to it while posting. It's really coming along. Can't wait to get this cast up. Need to start looking at latex. Anyone got any good sources with good prices for latex. I'll probably need to buy at least a gallon if not 2 to do the slush casting.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and was sent here by a friend. I really like the lekku so far, and I was wondering if you could point me toward a tutorial on the "slush casting" method.

Been far too long on an update on this, but here goes. Finally got this sculpted how I wanted it. Got the shape and the length and got it smoothed out and started casting it today. We're getting closer. The next update may be a couple of weeks as I still need to order my latex and might have to make a quick side trip to NYC to take my United Scenic Artists test.

This is fantastic! Great looking and great skills!

Do you plan on making a run of these?

Would be cool to have a Star Wars bar/restaurant/night club..... Been talking with some guys in Denmark.. Perhaps we will make one in Copenhagen.. Dont know if this will be ok with LFL...
