TROOPER ARMOR DISPLAY / Options? Cheap?

Have a set of wearable armor that's really just for display (unless I drop 20 lbs and have a costume party)...

Outside of a mannequin, what's the cheapest and easiest way to display this armor, to have it look somewhat like a trooper and not the melting wicked witch or coat rack effect?

I know there were some PVC setups a while back and curious if anyone has the specs on those, or any new ways to create the skeleton/mannequin.../???

Any pics, materials and specs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks All!

take a look in this C-3po related thread:

i´d say go for a cheap mannequin from Ebay but at least the thread shows a cheap skeleton structure.
you could try to bulp the pvc frame up with foam and duct tape but i´d say it´s almost impossible to make it look like a human body...

I built a pipe mannequin for my Firefly stuff.
Cost me about $30.

I didn't use any padding and I would think the armor would mean you wouldn't have to, either.

I'm also satisfied with the limited pose-ability.
Budget took precedence over features.

And a final shot of "pipeman" at my Shindig

Looks good!!!

Do you have any measurements off hand?

what did you build the shoulders with (just large pvc?)

thanks

That's just sad that you ruined that Starship Trooper armor and helmet :unsure

Boy, you're really gonna be bummed when you find out I'm "ruining" 5 sets of SST armor.

But, being the stand-up guy I am, I'll let you rescue four of the five sets for a Paypal payment of $2,100.

Far as pipeman, he is packed away right now, so I can't give you measurements.
The hat rack is machined UHMW, but wood would work as well.
The "shoulders" are a piece of 6" PVC cut in half and held on with velcro.
