Hi

We're kind of new at this so be kind.

We decided to create a model of the light cycle from Tron. Its based on a image of the original Syd Mead design.

We are really pleased with it so far

Any comments would be great.

Heres some better pics

What type of materials are you working with? and how big is it.

Its 40cm long and about 16cm tall.
The main body of it is made from polyboard.
The rest was made by sculpting the shapes making individual molds and then making them from plaster.

Ulimatley we will make a mold of it and make a fiberglass finished model.

I'll try and upload some decent pictures of it tonight.

From what I can see it looks good, but the pictures are very small, can you post larger pictures so we can better see the results of your hard work?

Just a small update.
Still a lot of sanding going on.

Added the starts of a curve at the top of main body.

Another Update.

We have added a few of the subtle shapes that for the lower part of the body.

The sanding has continued and I'm starting to loose the will to live.

We gave it a coat of light grey paint today and that has highlighted more areas where a little more filling and sanding is required.

Still, it looks great and I know its going to be worth it.

We noticed today that we hadn't been paying enough attention to the details at the back of the bike.

There appeared to be some definition between the main body and the rear of the bike. Looks like where the top of the bike would lift up to allow access.

We then noticed that there should also be a open area where the rear wheel meets the body. After much sweating and panicking we decided to start cutting a large chunk out of the model.

It was quite an unpleasant experience that I had to face alone. Thanks Tony.

Here is how far I got...

We learn by doing, and you're doing nicely. Have faith, this looks to be coming out fine! And remember, ANYTHING you might mess up along the way, or a detail you might miss ALWAYS is fixable.:thumbsup

While the changes are made to the back of the bike I thought I would upload some comparison images.
Unfortunately the only image of the original design is very small I've enlarged it a bit but its gone a bit pixelated.

The original design...

Thats great. Thanks for that.

We are currently making the molds.
Being our first attempt we are having limited success but we are battling on.

I'll post some new pics soon.
