Tron: Legacy Young Kevin Flynn Jacket Help

Hey everyone!

I know there's a gigantic topic on Tron costumes but I had trouble finding an answer to my particular question. It's quite a big thread. I'm hoping some seasoned veterans can help.

I purchased one of the Alpinestars NYC Jackets (expensive, I know, but I love it) and I am looking for a not-so-permanent way to affix the EL tape to the jacket.

Has anyone tried to go this route before? There's an adhesive on the back of the EL tape (I got it from adafruit.com) but I don't think it will be strong enough to last all night with sitting and standing multiple times.

If there's not a non-permanent way to do it, then what's the best way to do it? I'm affixing the EL tape on the material behind the zipper on the right hand side (from the perspective of the wearer) and then just to the left of the zipper on the left hand side.

I made mine with adhesive Velcro. The adhesive doesn't want to permanently adhere to the leather so it can come off.

Mine is a cheap version of the Alpinestars. I got it as ROSS for $28

Yeah I'm thinking I will go with velcro. My main concern with it is that I'm adhering it to the nylon/other fabric more like what's on the inside of the jacket rather than the actual leather.

I don't think it will stick as well, but I'll probably try it. I'm thinking maybe I can find some adhesive-less velcro and just stitch it into that fabric part of the jacket temporarily.

Any other ideas that I'm blind to?

Yes but the adhesive is too weak to stick on the (non-leather) fabric parts of the jacket where the EL tape should go to be screen accurate.
