that should be enough.

after seeing the new trailer and seeing one of the new posters, something occured to me which could be way out there, but I thought it worth considering and klicking around.

exhibit 1

tron poster

sam reaching for his disc with quorra. only lots of streaks (intentional) sam going back to the 'real' world???

exhibit 2

right at the end of the new tron legacy trailer

you hear clu say

"up there......is a new world"

and then

"up there......is our destiny"

now to me. that means that clu would like to escape the grid, the computer world and go into the real world.

and then combine that with the poster......I dunno. obviously anyone from the real world can return, as the computer has a body stored to re-assemble, but could someone/thing from the computer world leave as well?

obviously clu believes it is possible, otherwise, why have that dialogue in the movie? and the poster to me hints that this is what sam is trying to do with Quorra.

thoughts? complete rubbish, am I talking out of my arse?

That's an interesting theory. I was thinking along the same lines the other day.

Dr. Walter Gibbs explains in the first film how the digitizing laser works: "The laser dismantles the molecular structure of the object, and the molecules remain suspended in the laser beam. Then the computer plays out the model, and the molecules fall back into place." (This sounds a lot like the same concept as Star Trek's transporter pattern buffer.)

The first film only shows one object digitized at any one time. The digitizing laser in new film obviously has two stored patterns - Kevin, and later Sam Flynn. Based on the dialogue from the first film, their molecules are suspended in the laser beam while their patterns are in the computer grid. Even if Clu wanted to leave the Grid, I'm not sure it's possible since he has no molecules to reassemble?

As long as we're speculating, if 1981 Bruce Boxleitner Tron doesn't show up to solve a progressive complication in the middle of the third act, I will have completely lost faith with the Hollywood emotional manipulation machine.

well my thought here is that clu could escape into flynn's body.

flynn has aged in the computer world, but his body as stored in the computer will be 20 years younger anyway.

so clu could theoretically escape if he can find some way to 'upload' himself into flynn's stored pattern.

but how quorra would manage it I have no idea. there's no physical mass for her to upload into.

Since this is a spoiler thread,
I can say, yes, yes he does.

In the footage shown at comic con, there was a shot of Tron beating up Clu and screaming "FLYNN, GO!!!" A snippet of which was in a recent music video:

And yes, the leading theory right now is that Quorra will escape into the real world with Sam. Clu's motivations along these lines are hinted at in the recently released "Tron: The Betrayal" comic book prequel. (It's quite good, though short. Two issues.)

Thankfully there are still a few populating the TRON world, but I know what you mean. I guess I understand from a design point of view ... the black makes the glowing parts stand out that much more.

I've been thinking the exact same thing. However I do kinda kiss the weirdness of Disney bonkers plot structures from way back in the day. Is it strange for me to be slightly bored with a "well told" story? The manipulation is a little too slick these days sometimes.

Ooo, awesome. I'll miss those crazy white suits, though. :)

I can live with the black but I just wish they had less restrictive helmets that they could wear more often.

Tron with his hair poking out doesn't seem like Tron.

or does it...

to be honest I never expected to see tron in this film as Flynn has established his own 'world'

oh, I'm pretty confident that Tron is in the movie.

First, when Kosinski was asked if Tron would be in the movie, he responded to the effect that how can there be a movie with "Tron" in the title, without Tron being in the movie.

Second, Tron: Betrayal, which is a prequel to the upcoming moving, explains how Kevin Flynn brought Clu and Tron into the Grid.

Finally, I believe Tron has been in all the trailers. Here is some info I posted back in March after the first trailer with some speculation on Tron that I posted to the Tron Legacy: Flynn Lives thread:

Amazon says that the Betrayal comic isn't available until the 16th not that i have the cash anyhow. I'm looking forward to the game.
