Hey guys! I'm working on a short film and I need some help with the costumes and props. What I'm trying to do is make realistic versions of these cartoon drawings:

And each of them will have their own bow. But I would like to make the arrows out of some sort of flexible foam as to make it safer for the actors and the crew. I haven't made/cast anything with silicone before so please assist me with your knowledge of prop making!

At the moment I'm thinking of making the shafts out of thin wooden dowels and sculpting the arrowheads. Thanks!

I love this game! What about just simple foam for the tips like camping mat foam or pink insulation foam? There's a million things you can make or carve it from.

If you want to go really light and cheap you make a really crude and simple two-part mold from plaster of paris and then use something like Crayola model magic and squish the pieces into the mold like those old Playdough molds back in the day. It's crude, but arrowheads are really simple designs and meant to be crude. It's the paint job that matters really.

And for shafts you could do simple wood or explore home depot and see if there are a any shafts of plastic that might suit you better.

Depending on how many you needed, I'd just carve the arrowheads out of EVA foam using a dremel.

Thanks guys! Two great ideas! I'm thinking of sculpting the arrows out of clay at first but those are two very simple alternatives! I'll get back on here in a couple days when I start costume production.

So I have 5 bows, 3 of which I'm sure I'll be using (and I'll post pics soon) but the other two maybe not. One looks too modern and the other is a toy. So we'll see.

Here's three of the bows that I will for sure be using. They look great. The green one I'll have to modify the handle with some good old fashion duct tape, or some rags, but the wooden ones are finished enough to work well enough for me. What do you guys think?
