Touch Plate Lightsaber Activation

Hello all,

I was wondering if there is any type of tutorial or some tips and tricks that ppl would mind sharing to set up a touch plate activation for a lightsaber?

There a couple ways this can be done depending on what you mean by touch plate.

1) A plate that pushes down on a plunger switch. This is the most common technique

2) Capacitive touch. Requires custom circuit.

BTW, some MR/Hasbro Force FX lightsaber toys use a sliding touch plate.

The project you linked to isn't capacitative but there is a link in the first section of text to a document that describes how a capacitative sensor works.

There are also people who claim to have done capacitative sensing of a matrix (like on a touch screen) using a digital AVR microcontroller and very few extra components, but I have not yet been able to retract to where on the 'net I read that ..

the first link is 'my' site... and my design..

and its not 'perfect' by any means..

it needs a 'slit' in the top of the outter threaded tube.... and some 'tongs' on the bottom of the botton (so you can press and turn.. using the button head as a 'screw driver' (more or less) to screw in/out the threaded bunge/tube.

Also I check out: The Custom Saber Shop & fx-sabers.com (forum) many people have done variations of a 'touch plate'
