Torchwood Season 5

In regards to a Season 5, there's still no info. In panels at D*C on Friday and Saturday (available on YouTube, BTW), Barrowman said that he hadn't heard anything regarding more Torchwood, or Jack returning for Doctor Who's 50th. He did say he'd be all for it because he's a fan, not just an actor, and loves the character.

If they do another installment of Torchwood, please let it be better than MD. Ugh.

I loved how the show started out as a "monster of the week" type. Instead of going with this it also feels like they wanted to incorporate a "big bad" at the end of the season/ series.

It was too rushed as well. I love Children of Earth but I feel like they should've saved that for season 5 or 6 and extended the whole "monster of the week thing". I think that's what made us originally fall in love with Torchwood.

I like Miracle Day but it stumbles on itself too much in the beginning. It's not until episode 6 the main objective of the series becomes a bit more clear.

When Torchwood comes back, and yes that is a WHEN because it will eventually. I really hope it comes back in a format similar to the fourth season of Star Trek Enterprise. A nice long 20ish episode season with numerous 2 and 3 (and maybe 4) parters.

It would have the best of both words, there could be arcs but they wouldn't feel overly stretched and there would be variety throughout the season.

Either they do that or do a film and answer my questions.... Cmon guys if the Browncoats could get Serenity, I'm sure we could set up a kickstarter for a Torchwood film and get it made

As long as we're dreaming, I'd like a pet T-Rex that was engineered to be my friend and only eat people I tell him to.

  1. With Davies out of the picture, Torchwood's return is HIGHLY unlikely. I would kiss Torchwood goodbye - a Jack appearance on Who will probably be the best we get.
  2. TV in general (and specifically British TV) is moving away from the 20 episode season. Even IF Torchwood would come back, and EVEN IF they decided to make it a regular series instead of the TV Movie format, then we'd be (very) lucky to get 13 episodes.
  3. There's NOTHING about Enterprise (let alone Season 4) that I think would help Torchwood (but that's a discussion for another thread).
  4. A film is even less likely than a new TV season. There are a number of differences between Firefly and Torchwood, namely: (a) Whedon wanted to do it (to wrap up the series) - I'm not sure Davies wants more TW, (b) the fans wanted Whedon to do it - not sure the fans want more Davies TW, (c) Firefly just ended answering no questions - TW had a pretty good run and I think the only real question we were left with was the "Rex" cliffhanger (I don't think that's a good excuse for a movie), (d) Firefly ended before Whedon had a chance to ruin it (or make it great) - Torchwood had a pretty good run and Davies had the chance to bring it back and instead chose to nose-dive it into the outback, and, finally (e) Even after the massive fan support, Serenity didn't do too well at the Box Office - I think this is a cautionary message for TW fans.

I think Torchwood has breathed it's last...

I loved the first seasons, with the whole gang, the later ones well not so much, hope we see it again

I would love to see torchwood reboot to the style of season 1 and 2. Maybe not freak of the week, but definitely tied into DW like it was so subtly before.

Did you guys saw this ?? i was looking for some info about season 5 and found this.

Barrowman has an idea for Torchwood series 5 | TG Daily

Blech. Sorry, but that sounds like a hollow recast of Miracle Day. Personally, I want to move away from "The Whole World is Doomed" angle. Whatever happened to Torchwood being a SECRET organization, stopping menaces behind the scenes? THAT's the story I liked. If everyone in the world knows about it, then it's not a very good secret.
