Does anyone know what patch val kilmer is wearing on lower ( his left ) chest. its a triangle pointing down

i've been compiling the various patches worn throughout the film. most of them i have nailed down but i can't figure out what this one is
Maverick wears it only once in the scene just following Goose's death when he fights with Sundown. Any help is greatly appreciated
