Tony Scott Died in Apparent Suicide

the hell?!?

Saw this on tonight's news, seemed to make no sense at all. RIP :(

Yeah I was shocked when my buddy just sent me the info on this. Something must have been going on in his life nobody knew to make him wanna do this.

What a shame :(

So many great films, including Top Gun.

I was watching Enemy of the State a few weeks ago

Both him and Ridley born and bred 5 minutes from my house.

A very sad day, the world has lost a talented man.

Not sure how this comment will be recieved, but, he did it on his terms is all i can think of, not wait around for a terrible affliction to have its say, RIP, what a fantastic Director.

I don't know the details of his condition, but it seems to be that he was in way too much of a rush to check out. I'd have wanted to squeeze out every last moment possible. If he was able to drive to the bridge, climb over the edge and jump, he could have had a lot more time living as normal a life as much as possible. Tragic.

Apparently Tony Scott had just discovered that he had 'inoperable brain cancer' and didn't hesitate to take his life to spare his family a long and agonising death. Very sad he's gone but I have to say, I admire his bravery and control of his own destiny.

When I first heard the news, a thought came into my head: Ridley's older brother Frank died suddenly in 1980, I believe due to cancer. Ridley touched upon the subject during the Blade Runner documentary and stated that his brother's death most likely added to the dark mood of the movie.

As we all know, SRS is currently in pre-production for Blade Runner 2. Upon realizing this, I was disturbed by this sad coincidence of losing two brothers during the making of these two related movies.

Just a thought I wanted to share.

My older brother Tom died from an inoperable brain tumor a few years ago. Tom fought, he tried experimental treatments to help future sufferers of the disease to maybe be cured, and he went through hell. But he fought. The docs gave him six months to live, he lived for a year and a half. But every case is different, and Tony Scott may already have been suffering from it.

Suicide is a terrible thing. I can't even imagine what his loved ones are going through. The whole thing is just gut wrenching.
