Tomb Raider Reborn Prop progress

I love seeing the pics of you out and about at a con. Warms my heart a little seeing these folks taking pictures with you, while they know nothing of the evolution of your costume. Thanks for posting them!

Awwww... you're welcome! You know I was so pleased the whole day at how many people I heard shout "Lara!" Like they totally got who I was.... there were only two who for some reason thought "Walking Dead" and one or two who thought I was Katniss... but by and large they KNEW the character and that was very satisfying. :)

Oh wow! I saw you at MCCC! My first though was "has to be an RPFer!" Great job!

You should have said something! That would have been so cool to meet another RPFer

Is that Eddie (E.J.O.)?

Tuned out great and looks like you had fun.:thumbsup

Indeed it is!!! I was SO honoured to have met him. He is a master of his craft as you all know... but what a fascinating--and VERY humble--man! He treated each of us as if we were the only person there, and was so genuinely interested in conversing with each of us that we were all blown away by it.

Later on in his panel, he was telling the story of how the "So Say We All" scene came about, and he actually did it right there in the room and everyone joined right in on cue... even those who had never seen the show because he has that slow building genuine intensity that lets you know "this is serious" and you are compelled to follow him. I also met his son Bodie and was equally impressed by him... both fantastic people.

I almost didn't get to attend, as someone totalled my car two days before the Con. but friends took me, and another dear friend (the gal in the Blue Star Trek dress) paid for me to meet EJO and get a pic and autograph with him. I was SO blessed that day :-D

Genuine Class Act.
I've met a few actors like that.

Sorry to hear about the car but glad your friends made it possible to you to attend.:thumbsup

Thanks! I'm hoping that i can still make it to dragon Con this fall, but I dunno... most of my money in the short term will have to go toward buying a new car o_O

And now this costume belongs to a fellow RPF'er....

I had a gal contact me on Facebook asking for help putting her Lara together, and since I'd moved past the outfit myself, I'd decided to send it to her instead. :D

It was a load of fun to build, and a blast to wear out and pose for pictures in.

...But it feels INFINITELY better to know that someone else is now making use of it; that someone is wearing something that I made and enjoying it. FAR more satisfying. :thumbsup

:thumbsup Very kind gesture of you :)

Well thank you.

Of course, there was money involved.... :p

But more importantly, one day i'll see a picture of her wearing it out and looking awesome and inspiring people, and I'll be able to say to myself "I made that."

****UPDATE****

This costume is coming back!!

I really have missed my Reborn Lara. Since I sold the original costume (all that i retained was the Ice Axe) I have been hankering to have it again.

So....that means making it all over again--which is OK, because it'll be even better this go round!

This time I'm aiming for one of her looks from the second game:

I think the Grey Henley look suits my body type a bit better.

So far I've re-acquired the radio, the pants and I already have the axe. A suitable Henley top shouldn't be too hard to find.

Finding those boots, though....not so much. i have a different model of Timberland boots which i may have to modify as I've had zero luck finding the Charles Street models anyplace.

This time I'll be making the belt/holster and pouches from scratch rather than modifying something existing. I've learned a bit of leathercraft since 2013... so it'll be exciting to tackle that part :D

My first project with leatherworking was making an everyday carry holster for myself since I had trouble finding a holster that fit my FN FiveSeven very well. I'd figured since i was making my own, I might as well make it *COOL*:

Look familiar?

This is loosely based on Lara's holster and equipment belt from the Reborn game. I won't be using it for my Rise of the Tomb Raider getup, as that holster is quite different. But at least I know I'm up to the task of making it from scratch.

Keep your eyes peeled.... more updates coming soon :)
