To boldly go where no wallet has gone before?

That price might actually be a bit low. I have seen slightly larger models go for 10 times that price.
 
Seems like a lot of work went into making this. I wonder how many hours went into the making of this model and what the cost of materials may have been.
 
A filming quality miniature made by professional model makers and not done with slave-wages on an assembly line is going to cost a bit. That's probably 1-2 man-months of work for just the build, not counting the actual r&d. If the model were being done for a studio production you'd probably have to add an extra zero. So, while $5K is a lot of money to spend on something like this (I'd never do it) and may not be "worth it" to must of us, you have to put it into context.
 
I think our model guys here could do a better paint job. just looks manufactured. other than that I love It.
