Incase you guys didnt know- monstermakers.com now is selling the antioxidant for latex. Basically they have been testing it for years and are finally selling it to the public. It prolongs the life of latex.

So that with the liquitex titanium white will make our masks last 2-3 times longer. Everyone should be using Liquitex titanium white in their latex. WHy? Because this white delfects the light- and other whites absorb it.

Thanks for the info. I wanna do a sculpt and a wearable mask after Halloween. This will definitely help.

Heres some another tips:

Fill you mold with water and drain before casting. This helps in aiding to get a smooth bubble less beauty coat.

Make a gallon of thin downed latex 80% latex and 20% distilled water. This mix is to slush the inside of the mold and drain to get a perfect air bubble less beauty coat and seal your seams. Wait 5 minutes before pouring in the main latex for dwelling. This is faster then brushing in a fine coat of latex.

When using a brush to slush a non dwelling molds (open or flat) use dish soap and coat your brush. This will keep your brush from sticking and grabbing and the latex will wash right off the brush so you can re use it.

Make sure the latex is fully dry before pulling it out of the mold. The latex will shrink and pull its self away from the mold. It will be hanging in the mold and will not be damp or cool feeling. Removing the latex to soon and having to pull it away from the mold by hand helps in spending up the mold in losing details. Pulling a mask to soon can also increase the masks chances of having it warp, rip or loose shape.

Mel do you mean mix the liqutex titanium in with the latex before you cast up a mask to color the latex? Or use that color paint to paint the mask? I stoppeed using prosaide for painting masks and only use a latex base now and inks. I seen a video od Jordu Schell painting a latex mask and he uses strictly inks thinned down heavily with alcholol and no prosaide what so ever. I was just curious if you were talking about in the casting process mixing it in to extend the life of the latex. Im not making a mask but some other body parts and will give it a try on them.

Gotta love this place! Thanks so much for all the tips fellas. :( And not just on this topic - all the great info is very much appreciated, it's a HUGE help for all us noobs. :D

You have to take the liquitex, mix it with a little water so its not goopy, then mix that in with the latex.

Is that a measured mix ratio ie 40/60 or just pour liquitex into your latex pail?
Thanks for posting and sharing great info :(

Anyone know if I can get this stuff in the UK or something like it ?
