Tie fighter helmet what is the best

Heck yea!! Thats bloody nice!! :eek

Ahh I think I remember that one. Was he accused of recasting an SDS to produce these?

Yeah we were...

I had said that we hadn't even seen an SDS at that point but the naysayers didn't believe me - it got quite heated and nasty at one point.
I couldn't discuss it's origins which didn't help either.
Chris brought over his SDS so we could compare the two - he was kind enough to independently verify the truth.

Yup I lived in Ireland for four years and was lucky to meet up with IH and Anson and saw his work. I took an SDS along and in hand and up close they really were clearly not from the same source.

prop collector and Defstartrooper I think I have found the real automotive clips if not I have found something remarkably close that is better than any others I have seen.

I am not being a dick but I am still waiting to get some in hand so until I get them I don't want to divulge too much - reason being when I found the correct ATAT helmet sidehangers after Kurtyboy had said what he thought they were I put it on the forum then had to pay £30 for something that should have cost £3.

Also I do not want to post the ones I think they are incase they look crap in hand and let people down.

Rest assured though if they are good ones I will post the info :)

Oh yeah and they cost a whopping 95p each and cost less in the USA

Should be soon hopefully

Cheers Chris

Thanks Chris fingers crossed on the clips, and like everyone else i would have loved to have gotten one of the IH helmets, i remember 2 of them coming up on Ebay but at the time disposable income was lacking and they went out of range of what i could afford.
Anson keep on at him man we need more quality TIE helmets :cool

How do you know the clips are from a car door panel?
They remind me of circuit board spacer clips (is there a better word?) found in electronics, such as computers. Plus a washer.

Anyway, I don't think it would be wrong of Laws to sell those helmet shells for X-wing pilots also. They are more accurate than DI.

Heres the porsche ones, certainly not a clip with a washer on the originals theres a definate concave shape on the base

They are definitely automotive clips - where they are used on a car I don't know.

The reson I know what they are is there are high resolution pics available and some people on this forum have held a screen used TIE helmet in their hands.

When you see a real one up close it is clear what it is. The problem with pics and screen caps is that you are looking at black on black on a small area.

Gary - Those are reasonably close to the clips used but when you see them up close you will see they are very different if you are looking for accuracy.

Cheers Chris

I have a Laws TIE helmet and it's great
Hi Dan, I suspected you were getting a better TIE lid when you sold you DP, but never imagined you'd be getting a Laws. Super cool!

I believe you must be the only, or one of a very few who has a LAws in our region...

I'm working on a Tie right now. :love

You don't say :)

The TIE and ATAT greeblie hunts on the prop forum kind of made me think you are working on both just now.

Even though the threads have gone a bit cold believe me the ATAT pilot helmet greeblies has become an absolute obsession for me.

I am still looking when I can.

Any sneak preiews of the TIE or are you waiting to complete it?

Cheers Chris

I'll post pics when its mostly completed. It might not have the decals or mohawk container though.
