Thundercats Lion-O Glove

I'm thinking of trying my hand at building a Thundercats Lion-O glove. Has anybody had any luck on building one of these before?

Thunder, thunder, thundercats...Ho!!!

Can't wait to see you get started, any thoughts on what you will use for the Eye of Thundera?

Any electronics, Will it light up?

thats the sword of omens..not the glove. the glove is just a shield of sorts..nothing lighting up in that

I've got some ideas but nothing for sure yet. Im thinking a Large Hockey Glove would be a great base for the glove because in the cartoon that glove was Huge compared to his hands. I could cover the whole thing with faux fur and attach resin claws to the fingers. I was also considering making a resin palm piece like a cat has on the bottom of its foot. But then again im just brain storming. I will post some photos once i can round up some supplies.

not a bad idea, or how about using some soft foam to construct something then cover it with fur and claws?

Yeah thats not a bad idea either. Im gonna try a few different ideas and see which works out the best.

The Claw Shield was not fuzzy in the series only in the comics. I perfer the series version. Remember it was a shield so it should be hard and should also have a refective area on the top that was used to show Mumm-Ra's reflection to him and drive him away.

As far as construction goes, maybe a resin coated foam technique would work. I'm a huge Thundercats fan and have yet to really see anytihng done properly so I'll be more than happy to give ideas and critiques if asked.

This might help

Its been so long since ive seen the Thundercats show i forgot about it being more of a shield. I may have to make a couple attempts at this one for the cartoon and one for the comic. Thanks for the advice Omicron.

No problem at all. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Is there a way to print/paint a hologram on the surface, like the old stickers? It would be cool if it actually showed Mumm Ra's image.

Also remember that the claws would fire out trailing rope line so Lion-O could use it Batman style. The mechanics would be a pain, but another feature you may want to use.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't the claws that fired out. It was jewels on the top of the first knuckle wher finger meets hand. Also, in the toy, the clove snapped on, which may have just been a function of the toy. I also don't remember the glove being pliable at all.

Following on from Superman's excellent suggestion of using a large hockey glove for a base for the Lion-O glove, I had a crack at making one. I used a relatively 'unrealistic' colour of fake fur to eccentuate the cartoon nature of the costume. Claws were made of air-drying clay, sanded, painted and lacquered (then screwed into the leather beneath), whilst the knuckle duster adornments were sawn-off drawer knobs. What d'you all think?

I've posted photos here.
