Its an old technique that's used when you finish an acyclic painting if you have ever gone to art school or taken basic art as a pre req in college. It scotch guards it so that when its touched its protected. It goes on clear and drys clear like a clear coat and protects the painting. In this case protects the paint. It does not make it sticky if you know how hair spray works it drys and holds something in place Hair that is. In this case from art professors it creates a scotch guard layer on a painting and protects the painting when it drys and drys clear. Again you have to use a certain type of hair spray to do this. I just use this on gold paint so that it keeps its shine. You can also just use wax.
