Thoughts on NECA's Wolf Predators

I have the Unmasked Wolf, and he's not a bad figure really, he just has lots of small problems.

After fiddling around a bit with his skull necklace, it snapped in half. (And since it's so thin I can't re-glue it) His right hand is a bit loose, but other than that, the figure rocks IMO. He stands up fine for me, and I didn't really want tons of articulation. (If we got too much he'd be super loose after a while) If you get the hips and swivel hips in the right spot, he stands up fine. The head-seam doesn't bother me at all, though it does look a bit ugly. A minor nitpick; I wish the whip would've been wire, so you could bend and pose it. That would be sweet. The other Unmasked Pred I have (still packaged) is missing the plug joint on one of his plasma-casters, also, which was a bit of an annoyance for me. The Wolf Predator is the only Neca figure I own, because no stores around here sell them. (cost me $40 shipped online for two Unmasked Preds) I would still like to find the Alien and PredAlien is stores, and I'm hoping to get the Series 3 open-mouth version. I like the figure overall. Just seems a bit fragile to me that others. I usually only collect Hasbro figures (Marvel, SW Clones, 25th Joes), and Hasbro figures are (obviously) much more durable than Neca's. I'm not used to owning a "collectible" so I was probably a bit rough on it at first.

What are your thougts? Post 'em up!

I've got the masked version and I'm really happy with it. I think it bests the AVP figures by McFarlane. I too like that he has a bit less articulation, because my McFarlane Scar, Elder, Celtic, and P2 predators can't stand for **** I have to lean them up against something. They have a lot of articulation but most of it isn't useful.
A quick black wash on the bio helmet does wonders too, in my opinion it was way too light.

The Predalien is nice too, I didn't get a chance to pick up the regular alien though. Neca does a lot of great work in general though I have a bunch of their figures and I've had very few disappointments.

I have to agree with your thoughts on the whip, a pose wire would've
****** roct! Otherwise they no more fragile than the McFarlane AVP
series, I broke those trying to get them out of the packaging. I had
no problems of any kind with my NECA's, no broken parts! I'm pleased!
I personally would have liked just a little more articulation in the torso
and neck region though. The pose isn't what I would've liked, otherwise
over all they KICK ASS!! I'd buy the Predalien, if I could find it! :bigthumb

By the way, welcome to the Lair!

i got my neca AVP masked predator the other day and when i got it out of the box the leg fell off in my hand :( so i glued it back on apart from that iam very impressed with the fine detaining thats gone in to it . How ever it will not stand up right so i have now put blue tacked on the bottom of the feet in hope i will not find it on my floor again.

Paint job was not that good, I repainted the entire figure, looks way better now. Redid the mask with some very subtle touches and I should get around to painting the unmasked head soon. I basically bought the masked and unmasked figures, the head pops off easily, so I loaded him up with all his weapons, and I can swap the two heads at my leisure. Think of it as the ultimate wolf figure. The paint job came out phenomenal after I fixed it.

Articulation is limited, and I'm not feeling that bent torso either, all that side it's not too bad.

well i kno i was dissapointed wit mine thats why i customized it but someone should really explain to them the diff between a statue an a action figure :) while attention to detail is great .. articulation would be jus as great too pleazzz !! lol

well i have the masked and unmasked, and i agree "what is with that pose" but other than that i really like um, i had to ,of course, repaint them both almost entirely but they look awesome now! i also have the cloaked ,open mouthed, and the exclusive phasing predators comin, and ill be damned if they didnt push em back again! just like the first set! but im eagerly awating them even though ill probably just leave them in the package. ill post some pics of the repaints or i should say the "proper"paints of these figures if i can soon.

I got the unmasked version at Wizard World Chicago. The paint job doesn't bother me to much seeing as it's just a toy. Don't like how there's a random line right across his forehead. Also, I hate how I can't get mine to stand up and stay up. He keeps falling over. Heck the shiruken broke the last time he fell. Any advice how to keep him standing??

well this might be controversial in our world but the way i see it , im never gonna sell em, no one is ever going to look at the bottom of the feet so i just glue em wherever and how ever i want ,krazy glue , preferably, it bonds fast with a tight stick but with limited pressure can be removed without much struggle. another idea my friend did with his, if you dont want actually glue them to a surface, he glued them to cds, just a thought every one seems to complain about leaning and falling, i prefer to not even have the possibility of them falling off the shelf to there death, my P2 masked mcf died that way...
