WOW! This thread has escaped me for a while. Nice to see it walking around. That is some beautiful work, Sean! really, I don't know how you do it. Thanks for the pics.

...And be nice to the newbie. This thread is 27 pages long. Do you expect him to read the whole thing prior to posting? He will now.

I know... I still gotta have at least a tiny bit of fun with them. Hopefully nobody scared him away.

Re: Test Drive at the Local Hobby Expo

Awesome helmets! Well done, sir.

Today I finally took the suit out and showed it off at an event. I talked a slightly taller, thinner friend into wearing it at the local Hobby Expo being held at our town's community center. This was the second year they've asked me to have characters in costume walking around and it seemed like a great excuse to show off this build. As soon as I got my buddy strapped into the suit and checked to make sure he'd be alright to move around in it, we stepped out of the dressing room and were instantly swarmed by people clamoring for photos:

He didn't manage to take even two steps without being stopped and getting mobbed by folks looking to pose with him:

The 501st had a detachment on location as well, so I caught a few good shots with some of them:

Vader loved the suit:

Still, despite all the attention, I did manage to get him away for a moment to get some decent showcase photos:

I snapped quite a lot and it's taken me a while to pick my favorite. I think this is it:

Then again, there's always this shot:

I am IRON MOON...

em whats the word? oh yeah AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
man I wish I had ur skills.

I pulled out the Ironman suit a couple of times this weekend during the Bay Area Maker Faire.

When my crew was dressing the guy in the suit, I told them to leave out a couple of the thigh plates so he could move around easier:

I regret that decision.

Still, he looked good next to my ED-209:

They got a lot of attention:

On another note, I've finally weathered one of these:

Now I just need to light it up.

Here's a couple more pics from the Maker Faire. First, my MkIII all suited up with one of my MkVI Halo Spartans:

Here's Ironman delivering a birthday cake to a friend in a neighboring booth:

And here he is in the "learn to solder" workshop:

There's more to come, stay tuned...

This suit is amazing. Quick question what are you using to cover the joints? It think it's material but looks damn good. Also loving the gauntlets, very smooth job.

I love the learning to solder picture, kind of like Stark forgot and needs to learn so he can fix his suit.

Oh my goodness. I cried. Three times. Wow. I'm always dubious about CNC and 3D Printing like its somehow cheating, but I'm going to forgive you just this once because its beautiful.

Can't wait!! Subscribed!
