Thor Helmet and Armor (WIP)

Start the helmet Friday and and finished the pepping part today. Here are some shots of the final pep and the fit. Any tips or comments are welcome. This is my second build, but first one on the Thor helmet. I'm really knew to this, but it is fun and has become a new hobby for sure. I'll be working on the rest of the armor. Haven't decided from the first movie armor or the avengers armor. I have even seen a few good shots of the new armor from Thor 2. I may try to do that one. If anyone has seen any files for the new armor (I doubt it, but the Internet never ceases to amaze) please let me know. Thanks. Hope you guys enjoy.

Your scale looks great!
What were your dimensions on the build and your head? (if you don't mind me asking)
This helmet has to be form fitting to pull it off, and I think you nailed it. My first attempt was scaled WAY wrong.

looks great!

Interested in where you found the pep file... I'd like to attmept this build

Thanks

Thanks. My first attempt was way off as well. I do not recall my measurements right off hand, but I will check on them when I get home from work. I'm planning on starting the pep for the shin guards and the gauntlets today, since I can't resin because of the cold and rainy weather.

Thanks. I don't remember the exact URL. But I did a google search of "Thor armor pepakura files" and I believe it was in the first entries. If you can't find it PM me and I will share the files with you. Thanks again everyone who has commented. The support feels pretty awesome.

Currently working on the gauntlets. Had to scrap the first ones. (too big) i'll het the hang of scaling one day. I'll post pics later today. Tastyburger the height was 290mm. Hope that helps you out.

Progress shots of the left gauntlet. Using 3mm "foamies" from hobby lobby. That store will be the death of my wallet.

Finished shots of the left gauntlet. I'm not sure I really like how it turned out.

Progress shots of the right gauntlet. What do you guys think? I like this one more than the left so far but I'm not sure. Any tips or comments would be awesome.

I agree. I've decided that I'm going to back and re-do the left gauntlet in the same way I did the right. It's amazing how much an angle cutter makes a difference. I've started work on the shins but ran into a problem with my big ass feet. So I am going to put a Velcro strap going down the back (or maybe the side I haven't decided)(I'm willing to take suggestions) so that I don't have to slide them over my feet. Just waiting on the shipment to arrive (nylon, quick release clips, and Velcro.... Oh my) In the meantime I've started work on the armor out of paper, then I'm going to transfer it to foam. Hopefully all goes according to plan. Thanks for the responses tastyburger. I really appreciate the input.

Maybe split the shins along the inside of each leg, so if you have minor alignment issues when putting them on, it will be hidden? (Unless someone is between your legs; who knows what really goes on at some of these Cons! :p )

I'd try and either hide the velcro under a section of the foam, or integrate it into the design so it looks like it belongs there. I did both when I built the shins for my Doom costume.

Are you planning on doing full armor, with the sleeves, or without?
I have yet to find a technique for the sleeves that I really like.

I do plan on hiding an extension under the side which will have the Velcro on it. I'll post photos later today.

I am planning on doing full armor. I haven't decided on sleeves yet though. I have a few ideas for both but I haven't made a decision yet. Both present challenges, sleeves being the biggest bc I have no idea what material to use. And without sleeves I'm going to have to cover up my tattoos and hit the gym über hard.
