The Winter Soldier - Artificial Arm (original design, project on hold)

Hi there

Some I know wants to do a Winter Soldier cosplay and I thought that would be the perfect opportunity for me to make something from scratch. My prop building skills are still at the beginners level but I'm giving it a shot.

I'm currently at the 3D modelling stage. This is what I came up with yesterday night so far. It's just a rough version of the shoulder and biceps (including a hinge to connect to the forearm): For anyone who's interested: we're going for the soviet version so there will be some pipes on the finished prop

Added the basic forearm. Now it's all about detailing. I'm planing to make some foam templates from that

I managed to get a bit more work by now. I mainly focused on the elbow area and how to make the gap as clean and small as possible. I also managed to get rid of some proportion issues but it's still not done yet but it'll happen

@laurend: Me neither. The arm is for me and I REALLY have to shape up now to make the rest of the outfit meet the bar set by ThatPhoenixGuy.

So. Another day of rather pointless editing things has gone by I focused on the hinge to sharpen the edges. I also flattened the inner side of the shoulder so we'll be able to cut a hole in there. And of course I worked on the proportions here and there and managed to get rid of some tiny hiccups nobody really wants to know

There will be updates any time soon. I've had some crazy months with 12 to 14 hour work days including weekends for the last 2 months. But things are getting a bit more quite now and I can finally focus on my prop building again. Hopefully we'll be able to see a first, rough prototype made out of foam with the next couple of weeks

The file isn't unfolded yet 'cause it's not finished. I will be unfolding it within the next couple of days in order to start a first real prototype to check how the proportions work in real life.

But I'm not even sure if I'm going to make the unfolded model public yet. I'll let you guys know.
