The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

I always thought that in the event of outbreak the best bet would be an island or a cruise ship til I saw the 'Dawn of the Dead' remake o_O
Can zombies get to you through water? I guess I do need to read the Zombie Survival Guide :)

I agree that they are probably checking for supplies as they go but it's not important enough to drive the story. You can assume that is being done without seeing it. Also, this is an experience the human race has never been through. Rational thought and action can take a back seat to paranoia and fear. I always thought the idea of going far north would be good so the cold will slow down the zombies. Also seen in I Am Legend and in the first couple episodes of this season you can survive by barricading yourself in a small home too. Sneak out and get what items you need and wait the epidemic out. They arent going to come smahing in through your boarded windows or doors. They are zombies not the Hulk.

Here are some theories about what we have seen on the show and on what may happen next season, from here: Giving it a Clue in the Winnebago - ATZ Forums

I think some are a stretch and the bit about Merle being a candidate for the father of Lori's unborn is funny to say the least, but some are not so bad. So, for your viewing pleasure...

1. When the zombies appeared in the camp, this was done by Merle as a warped sense of revenge. He could have tricked the zombies into the back of the storage area in the truck while in the city, then dropped them off near the camp and lured the zombies through the bushed to the camp and then lost the zombies, circled back to the truck and continued to drive towards a military base. Keep in mind Merle may have seen the Helicopter as he was hooting as zombies on the rooftop. Keep in mind he would know about survival in the bush much like his brother.

2. Yes Lori is pregnant. By whom is a mystery. Hopefully Merle is not the father. Could the father be Shane as this woman could have been the one he was dating in Episode 1 but was not getting a long with. Yes, it is a stretch.

3. Dr. Jenner did not tell Rick about his wife and Shane as I highly doubt he would overly care or be watching the cameras in the different rooms. I do think Dr. Jenner told Rick about an alternate fuel source close by or perhaps about the Military base still being intact, hence the opening scene of Season 2 Episode 1 as they drive towards to Military Base. We have not seen the last of Merle.

4. A love relationship will evolve between Rick and Andrea and the show may elude to this ore in the second season. Nothing will happen of course until Rick finds out about his wife's previous relationship with Shane.

5. Daryl Dixon is an odd character that is seemingly neutral towards the rest of the group. Upon Merle's appearance in Season 2, Daryl will have to make a choice between loyalty to his brother and loyalty to the group.

6. Jim will make an appearance in Season 2 as a zombie either walking down to road towards his hometown or already reunited with his family all as zombies.

7. Morgan and his son will be in Season 2, perhaps encountered by the group in Rick's hometown. Morgan will still have not killed his zombie wife but may at some point in order to save or help the group. Morgan will die in Season 2 in some heroic fashion.

8. Morales and his family may possibly make an appearance in Season 2, but very likely as members of the walking dead.

9. There is a cure to the infection as long as you are still living when administered. This may show up in Season 3.

10. Merle will be killed in Season 2 by his own brother Daryl. Unknown if Daryl will die as well.

I doubt that Merle dropped the zombies off at the camp. I don't know if you paid attention, but there was no wall separating the back and the cab of the truck. Those zombies would have eaten him down to the bone before he could even get half way out of the city. In fact, if you've read the comics, you'd discover that Merle and his brother are not featured in the comics. The attack on the camp is still the same event that occurs in both the comic and the series. So, it's safe to say that Merle didn't lead the zombies to the camp. It was just fate.

Have you ever seen 28 Weeks Later?

I didn't bother reading the rest of the thread because let's face it, I am far too important for any of that (and of course, my opinion is the only one that matters), but they kind of killed it with the whole 'once they've turned, they no longer are human' thing. It kills the inner conflict, they're no longer killing people, they're killing monsters.
Blah!
:thumbsdown

Um... Since when are zombies people? Zombies have always been monsters.

Yes, but humans are very visually associative. A perfect example is in the first episode when Morgan has the opportunity to put his wife out of her misery and just can't bring himself to do it. He KNOWS that she's dead. He saw her die in that very house. He KNOWS it's not her. Still, he can't bring himself to do it because in his heart, that's still the face of his wife whom he loved and who gave birth to their son.

Yeah, because it's a good idea to keep them on leashes and pet them every so often. Sorry, you must have not watched the series at all or you'd have seen that the characters clearly have issues with how to treat the people they know after they have been infected or became zombies.

You can only keep them on leashes or chained, if they are your video gaming bud.

Not necessarily. Michonne in the comic is first seen leading both her boyfriend and her best friend, both undead, shackled up. They didn't have their lower jaws nor their arms, and due to both of them being close to her, it helped deter other undead. But I tell you, if the same thing occurs in the show (as its been reported that she'll be coming up next season), it is truly going to establish how bad-ass and smart she is.

Maybe they do do that. I mean, in an hour long show (I think about 45 min. with commercials) we don't see every aspect of every day. It's not like 24... they just show us what they feel is important to the story. That makes me wonder... if 24 was shot in "real time," why didn't we ever see anyone go to the bathroom? *Sigh* it's going to be a long 10 months without this show. Look what I'm reduced to pondering now.

look what happened in Zombieland with the bathroom ...

I know, Brotha. I was just adding that as joke because that is exactly what Shaun did with his bud in Shaun Of The Dead;)

And as an advid reader of the comics, God...I hope they put that scene on the show(y)thumbsup

And once she found other surivors, and the zombies weren't needed any further, she lopped their heads off and put them down.
