The Walking Dead Season 3

With all that TWD isn't telling us about the zombies I'm willing to accept the DotD explanation.

Comparing the zombie outbreak to modern pandemics (i.e. Bird flu, swine flu) ... It would probably take a few months to regain control. Then we could all live with zombie slave labor like in "Fido". Ah, Bruce Campbell ... Is there anything he can't do?

i cant believe we got to a discussion about why zombies cant bite through jeans...

its a series about zombies ffs, some disbelief is required
if you need some explanation: the virus mutates the cells after death to make them super strong and resistable, therefor being able to bite through anything.

there you go.

someone needs to relax a bit :lol

Let's take a pseudo-scientific approach to the question of - Can zombies bite through denim?

Anyone know how long its been (in TWD world) since the pilot?

I'm guessing about 1yr. I know that's not enough time for a human to fully decompose in less than optimal conditions. The zombie's are clearly decomposing though. However, this mystery virus re-animating them is probably pumping adrenaline like blood making the zombies unnaturally strong and the added benefit of no pain receptors. We've also seen how easily the zombie flesh and muscle tears and skull can be penetrated. All because of the aforementioned decay process.

Given these facts: unnaturally strong, soft bones, loss of elasticity in skin and loss of tensile strength in muscles.

My hyposis is: The older the zombie the less able to move or feed.

Therefore: The prison zombies should pose almost no threat. They should be barely able to stand. Their lower jaws should hang open or have fallen off. Either way not have the PSI to tear through denim.

But this is a fictional world and that would be boring to watch. Carry on.

Not that it really bothers me but the biggest problem with a zombie biting through material like denim is that even with a very strong bite force and no pain receptors human teeth just aren't that sharp or pointy so they'd have a very hard time to tear through denim. Personally, I'd be investing in some armored sleeves and leggings to protect myself from bites since the arms and legs is where you'd be most likely to get bit. Nothing fancy, leather would work fine although some nice, modern police riot type gear would be ideal; light weight, not overly restricting, only problem is that it would be hard to come by.

Didn't you even read the damned article????

The only thing is that with most semi-auto pistols there's nowhere that you could really duct tape the suppressor to. You can't just simply wrap it all around the front of the pistol because the slide needs to be able to move and there's not enough barrel sticking out to tape to since all but a tiny bit of it would be covered by the suppressor.

I think Birdie was just being sarcastic

Anywhere between a few months to a year. Basically, everything in Season 1 and the first couple of episodes in Season 2 take place within a few days. After that, it's weeks that go by (even more so with the kid they brought back, as Hershel said it would be at least a week for his leg to heal enough to be able to walk again). I'm guessing at least 7/8 months, especially with Lori's pregnant belly and it's size.

Not necessarily tonight. I don't think it is important anyway. Most likely just walking past a grave and they are screwing with us.

No, I've heard who it is, and the person buried there explains a lot about some characters in our show. More curious as to how it will play out if at all.

I hope we don't have to wait half of the season till the brother Dixon reunite.

So the prisoners were locked in the cafeteria for 10 months so that is a pretty good estimate on the timeframe

Hah, I KNEW that was gonna happen to the psycho dude. As soon as they went to clear out the block, I knew he was toast. They definitely used the comic for that inspiration.

Carl is now officially more useful than Lori.

Not that she's ever been good for anything besides laying back back and spreading her legs.

God, I have to wonder if the writers hate women. Kirkman didn't make all the women useless in the comics. Some were, sure, but most demonstrated some useful survival skills. In the show, the writers have pretty much made them worthless, except until the second half of last season, and only since then has Maggie stood out and Andrea gotten better.
