I'm not sure I understand the game. It's not really a FPS but you have to press buttons when something looks like it's happening on screen? What system is that for?

The version in the videos is definitely for Xbox 360. It'll probably come out for PS3 and PC as well.

This game looks awesome, I loves games like these. I've been wanting to check out back to the future as well but never got around to it.

Basically, the game is a point and click game that allows for decision making that affects the game play, with certain sections that appear to be in first person point of view (since the game is based from the comics, some of the angles may come straight from the comic itself. For example, the first person part reminds me of the shot of the zombies in the cafeteria, which looks like its from Rick's point of view, from the first issue of the comics).

Wow this looks really bad for all the build up its been getting. I get the cartoon/comic style but the controls or lack there of are horrible. Even a Dragon's Lair/Space Ace control system would have been better than this. Ill definitively be passing on this

But the controls have already been tested before. For The Walking Dead, its an upgrade on the pre-existing control system for the Jurassic Park game. Plus, the Telltale Games have always been point and click (and button hits). They know what they're doing and have proven that the system works.

But what's the real criticism that most people have is the fact that it's not a "run and gun" game. In fact, I think that is what helps in making The Walking Dead game stand out against the norm of zombie video games. Everyone is so indoctrinated to the idea of zombie games HAVE to be running and gunning games. But I think The Walking Dead game is going to be closer to realistic than Left 4 Dead or any of the Resident Evil games (and I don't mean in appearance). Why? Because in a real apocalyptic scenario of any kind, it's not about how much firearms you have, or using chainsaws to make epic zombie kills. It's about the choices you make, how they define you as a person and how those decisions affect your chances of survival. One choice can be the difference between continuing to live or dying a horrible death. And the fact that Telltale is going to include that in a game is a plus to me.

But the big plus to me is what lured Kirkman into allowing Telltale to make the game: the fact that it's more about characters and story than it is about just killing zombies with extreme over-sytlized gore. Don't get me wrong, I love games like Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. But I know that those games only have a premise, no real solid story and any backstory is told through the environment (such as the scribblings on the safehouse walls and certain sections that have apparently had something terrible happen).

Of course, that's just my opinion. I'd at least give the game a chance by checking out the first episode. And if its worth it, then I'd possibly pick up the other episodes. It'd probably be a real breath of fresh air in comparison to all the other games that deal with the same type of subject matter.

I really don't know what you were expecting out of this game. It's a point and click game along the same lines as Monkey Island or Grim Fandango, both of which were amazing and had perfect control schemes. This game seems like half adventure half puzzle game. It looks beyond awesome.

that game looks horrible all around. Even if it was to be a free game it looks terrible. If this were 12 years ago maybe it would be interesting but this is 2012 after all.

The game's graphics are meant to capture the artistic style of Charlie Adlard, who is the regular artist on the comic series. Basically, it's because of him, you have stuff like this:

The game's graphics are the way they are purposefully to mimic the comic's art, because this is a game based in the comic's timeline. Not the show. And from what I've seen of the video, it does appears close enough to be the comic's style.

If you guys actually watched any of the links I posted, the developer and Kirkman himself explain this many times, and their views on it. Here it is again for those who missed them the first time around:

Thing is, I dont care about the comic so I dont care to read anything about it much less the comic itself. Last I checked this is still a thread about the tv series. Regardless, the game graphics are still horrid with terrible game play based on what ive seen. Before anyone asks "what the hell do you know about games..." a very good friend is a game producer at Sony and has been since PS1 with some very decent game titles under his belt. Ive helped out over the years with some of them including the Syphon Filter series.
This game just looks bad.
