The Walking Dead Season 2 Trailer

Yeah, I agree there. This was completely glossed over. That she even fired the shot with everybody in the area around Daryl is a cardinal sin in Gun Safety 101.

You think they're done with that? That was in the last 5 minutes of the episode, they didn't have a lot of time to really pile it on her. Dale was trying to keep her from further spiraling into depression, but I don't think shooting Daryl is completely resolved.

Dunno. Given what we've seen so far, it's probable.

I hope not though.

Yes, yes that's it. The writer of the comic book, Robert Kirkman, who approves what is put into the show is flipping you off. Yes, you saw right through it.

:rolleyes
He's a member of the team of writers on the show. No where have I read that he has creative control of the television program.

Do I think it's an intentional middle finger? No. But, you'd think a writer like Kirkman, who is in touch with his fans and has an intricate knowledge of his characters would understand the plot points of his own series and how integral it is to the development of both. ...And yes, I realize the television program is a completely different animal than the comic series.

I also know that Kirkman has stated that he wishes he kept Shane around a bit longer in the comic to build up a few things. But, killing Sophia instead of Shane seems to be a cop out - an easy way out. As a member posted in this thread the show has lacked a total 'WTF' moment - which Shane's death was in the comic series and which they're evidently going to try and turn the Sophia situation into. Frankly, they could've created a perfect 'WTF' ending to the first season with one shot from Carl instead of creeping the plot along like they are - I think there's a general consensus that the show has become painfully slow.

They seem to be keeping Shane around to drum up an air of suspense with him becoming more a wildcard with his killing of Otis, his attachment to Lori and Carl and the possibility of his being the father of Lori's baby. At this point, I wonder if there truly is an exit plan by the show creators - or if they're totally winging this and just completely drawing out the series.

So rather than roll your eyes and be sarcastic (and possibly derail the thread), why not address the overall comments?

I did. Kirkman is still involved in the making of the show and SUPPORTS keeping Shane alive longer than just the first four episodes of the first season.

Shane WILL die. And he will likely die the EXACT same way as he did in the comic, I trust Kirkman to insist on that, but he wants more time to develop the act before pulling the trigger so to speak.

And maybe you could just stop bitching or stop watching the show.

No you didn't. You took a pot shot and tried to be witty with your emoticon.

We have no evidence that Kirkman will be on the writing team when/if they finally decide to off Shane. ...and at this point, I really doubt they're going to even kill Shane, muchless in the manner depicted on the show. I acknowledged Kirkman's banter on keeping Shane around.

I think the show is off course. While Kirkman is still around, he does not have creative control of the show and there's little guarantee that he will remain a member of the creative team. They ditched Darabont, so there's little doubt in my mind that AMC would have no problem getting rid of Kirkman.

...and yet, here you are bitching about my "bitching" - really!? Kettle, meet the pot.

You've been around long enough to know how the RPF (muchless the internet) works - we discuss things, we overanalyze things... and while I'll disagree I was 'bitching' about the show, we do ***** about things. This whole thread is an ongoing discussion, if you can't handle that - well, then don't click the thread.

Yes, it was late in the show, but they had enough time to cook dinner for Herschel and his family and treat Darryl's injuries. That's at least a couple hours where it wasn't addressed.

You have no evidence Kirkman will NOT be on the writing team when they DO kill off Shane. You're working yourself into a tizzy over something you have no evidence to the contrary.

Don't worry, when Carl puts a bullet in Shane, I'll be here to tell you "I told you so."

And to show it on screen would mean they'd have to cut back on the survival montage and hallucinations that Darryl went through. People complain there's enough talking already, I'm sure if we had a 15 minute talk with Andrea in that episode about gun safety people would complain about that too. Or they'd complain it didn't happen, like they are now.

I tell you, every day the South Park episode where Kyle starts seeing everyone who complains about stuff spewing **** from their mouths becomes more surreal. If people are so fed up with the show, stop watching. Vote with your dollar, vote with your ratings, instead of just constantly ****ting on something other people are enjoying.

WTF are you talking about? I said I doubt it will happen as depicted in the book, I still hope it will happens that way... but, I'm not into prognosticating as apparently you are. I have doubts in the series progression - if they can fire Darabont, they could fire Kirkman (who just joined as a writer this season and isn't even running the show).

You're guarantee that it will happen and your confidence that Kirkman will remain around is baffling. I'm glad you can see the future, can you give me tonight's lotto numbers, too?

Are your posts merely so you can feel better about yourself and can (at least in your own rationalization) say "I told you so"?

The tizzy you're working yourself up in over my opinions on the show far outweighs the tizzy I'm in over the show (simply because I'm not in a tizzy - I just wish the show would live up to the excellent first season).

I'm not ****ting on the show, Kerr. If you look at my comments, overall I'm one of the ones who's really enjoying the show. I just can't stand Andrea and will be annoyed if they don't address her loose-cannon attitude.

Coming from someone who has never read the comic (my girlfriend reads it) I'll say this much: I'm loving it-- but I wish they'd find that girl already!!! It's starting to look like all of this season will revolve around that!! If she just stayed put when Rick told her too! Arrggghh.... oh well. Great show anyway

I have to tell you the funny story about how I watched my first episode!! My girlfriend wanted me to watch the pilot with her and I was like 'meh... a zombie TV show? Won't it be bloodless and tame, since it's on tv?' (mind you, this was before I had seen shows like Spartacus and Rome, etc. lol)
So I sit down, and not ONE minute in, Rick blows that little girls head clean off! I sat there wide-eyed and was like '....oh.' :lol

I'm not talking about you specifically, but some others who seem to despise the show but keep following it week to week. You'd think people have better things to do.

As for Andrea, I agree, they're making her a weaker character than in the comics and I hope that turns around soon.

Yup, classic pilot opener that no series can ever hope to top.

Did I see a different version of the pilot? I know he put a bullet between her eyes, but he didn't blow her head clean off.

Just wondering if we're exaggerating for emphasis, or if I truly saw something different!

A 357 Python from a six inch barrel at close range probably should have left a MUCH bigger hole through her head, I'm sure there was one on the back of it, but they DO have FCC limits. They're pushing it as far as they can I imagine, but it was satisfying none the less.

Possible spoilers for the next two episodes...

"Secrets"

Episode opens with Patricia feeding the trapped walkers with live chickens.

Maggie has convinced Glenn to keep the presence of the walkers a secret. However, he eventually spills the beans to Dale, also revealing Lori's pregnancy in the process. Dale confronts Hershel in private, who somehow manages to persuade Dale to keep the secret as well, since he's convinced the walkers in the barn (including his wife and stepson) are merely sick and can be cured.

Andrea apologizes to Daryl for shooting him. And that's all we see of Daryl this week.

Shane instructs the women and Carl in the shooting range. He privately tutors Andrea, but manages to **** her off by mentioning Amy. Shane apologizes and they go off searching for Sohpia in a nearby housing development. No Sophia, but lots of walkers. Andrea and Shane blow away several walkers before getting to their car. On the drive back, they have some near-death-experience sex. When they arrive back at the farm, Dale realizes that something happened between them and tells Shane to stay away from Andrea. Shane responds with a not-so-veiled threat to kill Dale, after he promises to reveal that Shane considered shooting Rick (in the first season).

Lori discovers that Herhsel wants the group to leave and berates Rick for keeping it a secret. She sends Glenn back to the pharmacy for another trip and Maggie accompanies him. They're attacked by a walker, which Glenn kills, earning some big points with Maggie in the process. Glenn brings back abortion pills for Tori, who takes some but then immediately throws them back up. Meanwhile, Rick finds the bottle of pills and confronts Lori, who admits she's pregnant. Cue dramatic conversation about bringing a baby into a zombie-infested world. She also reveals that she and Shane used to bump uglies. Rick's reaction: "Meh, I always kind of figured."

"Pretty Much Dead Already"

Episode opens with Glenn revealing the presence of the walkers to the rest of the group, who promptly proceed to freak out. Maggie becomes angry with Glenn for not keeping the secret and ruins his hat in retribution. Dale gives Glenn his trademark bucket hat as a replacement. Maggie later makes a plea to Hershel for the group to stay. She and Glenn also have an argument about the walkers, after which they eventually admit their feelings, kiss and make up.

Rick and Hershel argue, with Hershel demanding the group leave within a week. Rick uses the my-wife-is-pregnant card, but Hershel's not persuaded. Shane also wants the group to get the hell out of there because of the walkers in the barn, but Rick uses the same excuse to cool him down. However, Shane then becomes convinced that Lori's baby is his.

Dale takes off with Shane's guns to hide them in the swamp. Shane tracks him down and demands he give the guns back. Dale points his rifle at him and threatens to shoot. However, he backs down at the last moment, since he has no wish to become like Shane: he reveals that he knows Shane shot Otis and lied about what really happened. Shane heads back to the farm with the guns.

Hershel has Rick help him and Jimmy try to fish some walkers out of a nearby pit of quicksand and lead them into the barn with snare poles. He says the group can stay on the farm if they agree not to kill the walkers. They arrive at the farm about the same time Shane emerges from the swamp and hands out guns to other members of the group...

[sp]"Pretty Much Dead Already" (CONT'D)

Shane sees the snared walkers and goes berserk. He yells at Rick and Hershel as they guide the walkers towards the barn, with the rest of the group and people in the farm looking on. He pulls his sidearm and unloads it in the chest of one of the walkers, demanding to know "Could someone who's alive just take that? Why is it still coming?" Hershel has no answer.

He finishes off the walker with a headshot, grabs a nearby pickaxe and breaks open the barn door. Walkers pour out, T-Dog, Daryl, Shane, Glenn, and Andrea form a line and open fire. Once the dust clears, one more walker emerges. Sophia. Rick finally steps up next to the others, pulls his six-shooter and kills Sophia with a shot to the head. End episode.
