The Walking Dead Season 2 Trailer

One would think this season would be longer than the last and they just renewed it for season 3.

I personally hope they find Sofia in the next episode, they really want to drag that out. We have a bet going among my roommates over what actually happen(ed)s to her. One of them is betting Merle found her

It's just not feasible for them to do weapons training. In the comic, Rick and Glenn raided the gun store in downtown Atlanta but in the show, all their extra weapons consist of what Rick grabbed from the cop shop. To effectively train everyone to even hit a zombie let alone score a headshot would end up using all of their rounds.

Which is exactly why they should be hoarding guns and ammo. (They didn't even bother to check the tree zombie's camp for supplies, which irritated me to no end.) Shotgun shells are cheap and plentiful, and shotguns require less precision than handguns. Besides, when the shooters are dead, who will protect the non-shooters? (Based on the previous episode, it looks like they're going to do some shooting at that fence, but I predict it will just attract zombies, which is why they should drive somewhere remote and be ready to bug out when the zombies inevitably appear.)

If it were me, and we really had to go somewhere, and whatsisname really insisted on keeping his RV, I'd add a big truck to the convoy to carry supplies (like gas cans and BIG BOTTLES OF WATER), and we'd rat-fondle every nook and cranny on the way. Of course, if it were me, I'd be looking for a place to hole up and then wait for the zombies to rot away.

I'm not really blaming the characters (who, living in the South, should all have grown up in the "gun culture"), I'm blaming the writers. When your characters do stupid things--or fail to do smart things--for the sake of plot, then you're a bad writer. And maybe that's my major beef: that none of these characters seem real, because none of them act the way I would expect real people to act in that situation. ("Real people" being me, of course.)

Oh my god! It's full of hay!

When characters fail to do smart things, or do stupid things, that's called realism. Apparently we live in a perfect world because everyone analyzing the actions of characters in a fictional TV show clearly know exactly what the right thing to do would be in any situation, ever, without any doubt of what should be done. I guess we have no problems in our world, since real people only do smart things.

Listen, it's easy to be academic and say what you would do in a fictional situation, but this show is about people who regularly see their family and friends TORN APART AND EATEN WHILE STILL ALIVE.

That engenders a great deal of hesitation to go out of their way and look for trouble. If they are in a spot, and there are no zombies there, then that's generally preferable to going to an unknown area and hoping you don't run across a HUNDRED PLUS HORDE of creatures who entire purpose is to KILL AND EAT you. Remember first episode? Rick thought he was badass riding his horse around in Atlanta. Oh, a zombie or two, 'don't worry boy it's just a few.' A turn around the corner and then OH **** I'M ****ED!

That kind of experience is the kind of thing that's going to make a guy say, 'self, this place I'm at doesn't have any zombies. A guy here is a bit of a dick, has some rules, but he is a skilled surgeon and saved my boy's life, all he wants is us to box our guns and play nice. I think I can do that.'

The Sarc is strong with this one...

You appear to be supporting my point(s). I agree that the smart move at this point IS to stay put, but we all know that they're going to get the wagon train moving again, and keep foolishly getting themselves into situations they probably could have better prepared for, because if they just stay on the farm it's going to turn into "The Walton Dead."

BOOM!

"Thank you! Good night!"

It doesnt take shooting rounds to demonstrate/teach gun safety and use. Nor does the handling of bladed or blunt weapons. Basic survival consists of hunting and gathering. It seems like these characters are looking for a Walmart or something.

Glad im not the only one thats caught onto the loose writing which is getting more and more generic as things seem to linger on. You dont need hordes of zombies per episode or silly things like the well zombie. What is needed is suspense and im not feelin' it. When we have characters just seemingly frolicking through the forest that is either, pending the needs of the script, scattered or not scattered with zombies the suspense just is not there.

Im waiting for the show to get better but its more and more turning into fast forward fodder to get to the few minutes of good stuff. Too add to that im fed up with the overly used "squish" noises for everything zombie boo boo related. Thats something that should be saved for "OH SNAP!" hits. If your still reading this get off my lawn!

They had higher priorities then searching the guys tent for supplies. Also maybe their thought was that the guy offed himself because he ran out of supplies. Same thing with Guns, he had no guns because he chose to hang himself. He was gonna off himself regardless so you'd think eating a bullet would be quick and painless unlike hanging yourself.

Also they may not have a choice in the matter, hershell spoke of making them leave. Yeah, they could pull their guns and threaten them but who knows if Rick would do that. Hell, for all we know Hershel has a small armory in his basement that could turn Rick and his group into zombie chum. They could throw that into the show for all we know.

The show is full of so many holes it plagues me but it's still fun to watch...

The RV was an 'ok' vehicle in the original setting at a campsite, but not the best on the open road... If I was in that situation I would be scouring all the 'military' establishments (plenty of Humvees to be found) they have been visiting looking to lay my hands on an armored personnel carrier(s)... Park that armored carrier and get a good nights sleep and if you are surrounded come morning put it in first gear and proceed forward ;) Might not be roomy but you will be snug and safe inside... Heck the bigger ones are amphibious as well, that could be handy...

Also in the last episode I just can't wrap my hands around caring a cross bow with a single bolt, while you complained that you wasted a bolt on a hanging zombie, cut that zombie down and reclaim the bolt, silly... Survival 101, don't waste your resources especially if they can be reclaimed...

Same with guns, I would focus on stockpiling all that I could at any opportunity...

And the biggest hole I have yet to see answered where and what are they doing, make a plan, something, just don't aimlessly wander... Can the zombies forge water, someone should have the answer? Even if they can it doesn't seem likely or practical they will... So bee line to the Gulf, grab a boat and head for an oil platform and setup a new home, most are self sustaining, for both power and water, seems like a win, win... Shouldn't take much of an offensive to rid the platform of any walking dead residents...

The more I think about that well zombie, the more I think that he resembles Kuato from Total Recall.

I seem to recall Rick saying something about making for Ft. Benning. I'm not sure how close that is to Atlanta off-hand.

Reading this, I have to wonder if you guys have never seen a zombie movie before. Are we really complaining about plot holes? Inconsistent pacing? BAD WRITING? Come on, man! It's a zombie movie every week! As long as there are cool looking undead people shuffling around and a bunch of normal people killing them in fun and interesting ways, FREE PASS.

But for what end? Last episode he was begging to stay at the farm, again for what purpose? The farm doesn't offer a future for survival it just offers a temporary unsecured, unguarded resting point...

The guy isn't some survival expert with lots of experience and a well thought-out plan. He's just trying to keep his family safe, and he's willing to do whatever appears to be his best option for doing so. Right now, he's in a place where they appear to be able to rest, recoup, and hopefully find that little girl. Status quo until something changes - which hopefully (for us) will happen soon.

Even an idiot survivalist knows that turning in your defenses (guns) and hanging out in a totally unsecured and unguarded farm house surrounded by woods full of zombies, and a major highway next door with herds of zombies isn't anything but a short term, buying your time, catch your breath situation, not a beg to stay place or a place to even consider for any real length of time... Sorry but the windows are not even boarded up on the house and they run full lights on top of the hill, surrounded by acres of mowed fields... Haven't they went over the fact light attracts, so cover the windows in the previous episodes? Cows grazing in the pasture, nothing like a 1 ton steak diner advertisement for any zombie that happens to be in the area... In the end nothing about that place sells me on it being a safe place to hang out let alone a place to even consider begging to stay... I can fully understand the catch your breath, but at the same time I would be considering real options for long term survival and sustainability...
