The Topknot Build. New photos of torso life cast build. 05/07/2015

You can cut the dreds in angle so that when you attach them they fall straight, but i thibk it wont look natural, just a though

Believe it or not I still had some clay in these leg molds that I had been procrastinating cleaning out. I decided I needed to get it done before the 100 degree
weather hit. While I was out in the garage I realized I also needed to straighten up my lower body cast. I had cover it with Shell Shock, which sucks by the way, an it needed to be smoothed out before I could use it as a plug for the legs. I belt sanded for now. I need to do some fill and then I will paint on a coat of epoxy since I have some old stuff lying around. If the plug isn't smooth the cast will look lump in the thin areas. I also wanted it a little small so the legs fit tight.

Here are the dread beads I sculpted up a couple of years ago for the "Knot".

This one is my favorite. It is a bone wrapped in metal.

The paint process. Now that I look at that I believe I will be redoing those.

Ha.. That is exactly how i like to have my dreads rings . with lots of variety . Nice stuff there my good man .

Great looking set of beads.  It looks like a great mix of P1 and P2 with a bit of customization to it.  Kudos!

You name it brotha i got your back. I am just now getting back on my stuff. i had some real big jobs at work and i had no time to play. I am glad you knocked out the legs it looked super clean in it , and nice seams. so when is the silicone party ? lol

That party may be coming up soon. I hope to get the leg plug finished up today or tomorrow. After that I need to bolt the mold onto it and seal it so I can fill it with water and see how much silicone it would take to fill it. If it is 2 gallons or less that is what I will do. If it is more than 2 gallons I will be doing some sort of foam back fill. We will see.

Finished the skin details of the topknot gully. I was sort of dreading doing it but in the end it wasn't bad. I realize no one will ever see this but I guess I will know
it is there.

Thanks , I just checked out your artwork. Fairly awesome my friend. I see a Predtaor build in your future.

I put in a couple of hot hours Bondoing and sanding. I will do one more light layer of bondo then seal it with Epoxy resin.

Knowing you Jeff you wouldn't have it any other way   :D .  The detail is fantastic!

Looking good my friend..the legs are gonna look sweet man. Have u figured out how much silicone it's gonna take ?

Hey thanks averyone for continuing to check in. Hey Tony I'm hoping to bolt the mold around the plug in the next couple of days and fill it with water to see what the bad news is. I did do a test with some Dragon skin on a set of compression pants to make sure it cured right. It did. So Compression pants from Eastbay it is. $12.99 . I will get some pictures up soon. Speaking of pictures, Tony you need to get some up of that helmet it is a must see.

WHEN you get this bad boy done-- it will for sure be a bittersweet day-- this has been one epic ride my friend. From the entire sculpting process, to the spear, to the final hurrah-- It for sure will be something to behold. Then what is next on your years long timeline??

Hey's the leg plug finished.
I did a little spot puttying.

This epoxy coat dried kind of orange peely. It goes on so soupy I had to sit there and brush it for an hour.

I did push in clay around all the edges and tried filling it with water today. Tried being the key word. There ends up being to much head pressure
and it kept springing leaks at the bottom. I will try plumbers putty at the bottom next. From what I gathered today it will probably take more than
2 gallons which means I will be doing things a little different. I still want to see what the volume of it is though. I think a 32 pound pair of legs would be
a bit much. I may discuss this with ptgreek and see what he says.

I managed to get a couple hours in yesterday. I got the left cheek roughed in, the detailing pretty much done in the mouth and most of the symmetry problems on the left side ironed out.
