Yes I found it, and now I'm subjecting all of you to it! :lol

The Muppet Show: Season 4- Stars of Star Wars - YouTube

Saw this in... 1978? And it made me laugh and smile today just as much as it did back then (although... probably not for the same reasons. :lol).

For old-timers like myself, enjoy the trip down memory lane.

For newcomers... Well... Just have an open mind. :lol

C-3PO tapdances!

No seriously there's a song and dance number at the end. (With the ultimate of ironies!)

Cast of Star Wars (Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker) February 16, 1980
Kermit has booked Angus McGonagle, the argyle gargoyle who gargles Gershwin. But at the start of the show, the cast of Star Wars — Luke Skywalker, C-3PO and R2-D2 — smash through the wall, looking for fellow Star Wars character Chewbacca. Kermit is thrilled to have them on his show, until he finds out that they won't actually perform anything. Luke mollifies Kermit by bringing in his "cousin", Mark Hamill — but when Kermit sees Mark sing and dance, he throws him out. Finally, the Star Wars crew hijacks the Swinetrek. With First Mate Piggy subbing in as Princess Leia, they face Dearth Nadir (Gonzo) who is holding Chewbacca prisoner.

Two of what I loved the most when I was a kid rolled into one.
A few years ago, I found that I had this episode on VHS, recorded from TV back in the '80s ... and later on the same tape is a home movie of me building an X-wing out of Lego. :)

I have the first three seasons of the Muppet show on DVD. Then for some reason they stopped releasing them. Of course season four is the one I wanted the most for this very reason. :(

I was wondering that myself. I bought the three seasons and have been anxiously awaiting future ones.... But nothing!

The muppets were in state of new / old ownership dealings. That's why there was a delay in stuff being released.

Most likely not. At this point, it'd seem relatively simple to resolve. I think the larger concern was with different rights-related issues, such as the copious amount of songs used on the show. Most likely, they originally had broadcast (and rebroadcast) rights, but may not have had distribution rights. In other words, you could show episodes featuring this or that song on TV, including later rebroadcasts, but you couldn't sell 'em on home video without paying more for the use of the songs.

I seem to recall that there were some issues with a few songs from some of the episodes they released on DVD, too, such as replaced/removed skits/songs. I don't think it was just the Star Wars thing.

Prior to the season sets, there were Time-Life releases of select episodes on DVD, and this was one of them.

That was pretty funny and pretty bad at the same time, not quite Holiday Special bad but bad enough to make me cringe anytime of the Star Wars cast was onscreen. However, I did like 3PO's soft shoe routine at the end, I was amazed at just how much Anthony Daniels could actually do in that suit; I guess that because I'm so used to seeing him shuffle around as 3PO I never realized that it wasn't really so much the suit restricting his movements as much as his restricting his own movements to be in character. The ending song was the best, of the irony of it all.

Anybody notice Luke missing his lightsabre?

I couldn't help but notice that too, it was rather glaring to me to see that empty spot on his belt where you know his lightsaber is supposed to be.

The other thing that I couldn't but help to notice was how nice and clean his outfit was, it was kind of weird to see it that way since I'm so used to seeing it all dirty and lived in looking.

To think of it ... the performer that made Miss Piggy squeeze up against Luke is Frank Oz who does Yoda. Both puppeteering and voice in both cases, the original voice actor and puppeteer.
He then went on to direct The Dark Crystal, Little Shop of Horrors, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Score and the Stepford Wives.

And GL said in a behind-the-scenes documentary that Yoda was the child of Kermit and Miss Piggy ...

The thing is--The Muppet Show is SUPPOSED to be cheesy, crazy, and cringeworthy. That's the whole point! Watching the stars of Star Wars do this type of comedy does not bother me in the least. In fact I enjoy it. The Holiday Special, on the other hand, actually seems as if it is trying to take itself seriously. Which makes it the ultimate fail. Oh God.....it's....just....so....bad....
