They did that in TFA too. Finn used it on Takodana.

I'm fine with the new midband and keeping the Graflex bottom can minus the D ring. It looks new enough. The design loses me with the unaltered Graflex upper, though. Wish they'd done something more with that.

The upper profile is the most recognizable part of the Graflex lightsaber, so I'm okay with that.
