Interest The Pink Panther "DIAMOND"!!! Hand-Carved Crystal Glass w/ 3D Laser Etched Panther!!!

Interested... Most definitely interested.

I have previously got your romancing the stone map and emerald and your dark crystal replica. This is just too good to pass up.

Who is interested in the "Pink Panther DIAMOND"?!!!...

I've loved the Pink Panther movies since I was a kid in the 80's, and I'm thinking about making the one pictured below.

The one below has the actual cartoon Pink Panther etched into it, which is from an animated intro to one of the movies, but in one of the films it is mentioned to have a "flaw or inclusion" that looks like a Panther leaping, hence calling it the "Pink Panther Diamond".

So, being a fan of Jewelry Heist movies, I'm interested in making the Pink Diamond below with an abstract flaw that looks like a Panther leaping.

Measurements: 60mm x 40mm x 30mm

It will be Hand-cut Crystal Glass with a Laser-etched 3D image of an abstract image of a Panther leaping.

Price: Estimated to be around $90 USD, maybe less... Will know final price when factory receives designs.

I'll provide updates and final designs when I have them!

Post below if you want on the list! (y)

Hello there. I would be VERY interested in this!

UPDATE:

I'm back on this fulltime now and working on the schematics of the Diamond from "Return of the Pink Panther"!(y)

So, I'm thinking the Diamond measurements are about 5cm (wide) x 7cm (long) x 4cm (high)...

I'm basing this from when she took the Diamond out of her Cream Container...

What do you guys think?

By the way...
Here's another pic of the 'pink' color from the factory... It's very 'light pink', which is what we were after!

As I remember it; the flaw in the diamond is pink. The diamond itself is white. I would need to really research the references before I could be sure though.

I don't know of a way to replicate that with crystal glass...

It's either a Clear Diamond with a laser engraved "panther-like" inclusion, or Light Pink Diamond with a laser engraved "panther-like" inclusion....

The Pink Panther props were actually different in the two movies that featured the diamond (the first one from 1963 with David Niven and the later one with Christopher Plummer). My wife and I just binged all five of them last weekend on Max. I saw the 70s ones in the theater, and I remember laughing myself to death, especially during the Clouseau/Kato fight scenes. Wonderful movies, Peter Sellers was a treasure.

I did a quick mock-up of your measurements, and they all seem pretty reasonable to me. My initial gut reaction was that they might be slightly small - my mental image is maybe 7.5 cm - but I think that's because I remember it mostly in relation to Catherine Schell, who's a bit smaller.

As for color, I still lean towards the Return prop's clear appearance, but I'll get it either way.
[Although for what it's worth, if it's clear, I'll order two.]

Thanks!

That’s it, I think you’re making all the right choices. Please add me to your list. So fascinating.

Yes, I think RelicMaker has made all the right choices.

I just watched The Pink Panther (1963) and at the finale when Clouseau accidentally pulls the necklace from his breast pocket, the white court lighting reveals the diamond to be a strong pink colour.

In the other two scenes where the prop is featured, the lighting is confusing. In the opening scene the prop looks like it has a pink shade, but the shot transitions to a white diamond background for the pink animation.

When the princess later removes the prop from the safe, she’s dripping in pink stones herself not to mention the other stones on the necklace which are darker in tone, making the diamond look fairer by contrast.

Themes of the movie support a pink-coloured diamond. The princess and her family clearly love pink gemstones and seek them out.

By contrast The Phantom leaves a white glove with a monogrammed P behind in his thefts. A movie called The Pink Panther wouldn’t want both of its key props to be white, at least one of them should be pink and naturally, the diamond is.

And finally, I’ve been behind-the-scenes at The Royal Ontario Museum where friends brought out diamonds with fun inclusions for me to put under my microscope. One diamond had a butterfly-like inclusion, the others inclusions that looked like radiation symbols.

You’ll notice the inclusions are dark grey. They are blemishes, damage after all. I’m not going to say it’s impossible, but a white diamond with a pink-coloured inclusion isn’t really a thing.

A diamond in a pink shade with a dark, panther-like inclusion is realistic. RelicMaker has it right.

Inclusions can be colored crystals trapped within a colorless diamond. Look up garnet inclusions; pretty spectacular-looking.

This one even combines a pink/purple garnet with a green diopside to form a vague snail and its shell:

Rare, of course. But then, what is the Pink Panther if not an extraordinarily rare stone?

Not to say that's an expectation of this approximate Return replica, though.

I´m very interested if you do a clear version, same shape as the one in Return of the Pink Panther. I´ve handled the real prop, and it was 100% clear, no pink.
Just noticed the second half of this comment from early last year, and now I feel rather silly.

Could've sworn I did a search years ago in case of an auction listing for the original Return prop, but evidently either it wasn't online yet, I somehow skipped over it, or I only recall an intention to do a search, because sure enough, it pops up within the first few results.

Sold by Christie's London in December 2000 (for roughly today's equivalent of $10k), sourced from production designer Peter Mullins, and described as "a colourless rock crystal mixed cut oval -- 2¾in. (7cm.) long." Apparently according to Mullins, three were made in Austria for production, two of which survived filming, the other's whereabouts unknown.

As an aside, the prop I'd actually most love from this film is the heist crossbow. I got all excited when Profiles listed one in 2018, but sadly I couldn't find a discernible shot consistent with the lot, even accounting for later modification; likely at-best an unused back-up.
