The Part ID thread

Had a thought that we could start a part ID thread where everyone can list parts they're looking for. I'll start with this part from the medical frigate. It looks like some sort of rail carriage?

Feel free to post anything you're looking for as Part 2, Part 3 etc. etc.

Part 1

Solved - Roco 222 M2 Alligator bridge

Whenever i look at these two, i always think scissor bridge, but ive never found anything, but then this ship is really built from the dregs...darn expensive dregs :lol

Well, you all know what im looking for ANYTHING on the Ion cannon lol, been at it for a while now, trying to nail the barrel base, looks to be some form of dome/bowl...but ive again, seen nothing like it...funny thing is, it looks like another crazy F1 tyre inside out deal, the shape just fits...but it cant be, as parts are attached to it.....insanity is not far away!

Could be, but ive not found anything even in Roco's line, and ive got a great image of this area...very tricky, though K is doing very well, he's been working super hard at IDing this one!

well let me know when its found this is one part that has always stumped me, its all over the place on the executor the part color appears dark green or black

for instance see below. and note that there is evidence of sanding on the sides,s o this could lead us to assume the part is cut down or off a larger part. sorry I sound like Grissum. I digress.

Part 1

Looks like a radiator from a model car.

Those parts look a lot like the bottom of the bridge elements of the German "Amphibisches Brücken- und Übersetzfahrzeug M2 Alligator".
It was available in 1/87 scale by ROCO (#222) and there were 4 bridge elements per vehicle.
Here are some pictures of the vehicle (the second vehicle on that page):

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Stefan

PS: the green "ramp" next to the four parts looks like the deck of the M2 while the part behind the ramp seems to be one of the extendable floaters.

Haha, just like that.... I've wasted hours (days probably) trying to find that piece!

Thanks Bug, I think you're onto a winner there, I'll post a confirmation either way once I pick one up.

Thanks for the link too. :)

I'm glad I could help.

I'm trying to ID the green part in the attached photo. Anyone know this one?
Cheers and thanks in advance, JT

Could you post a picture without the green marking?
Judging from the Leopold part this seems to be quite small (about 5mm).

Cheers,
Stefan

Hey guys,

Kind of a Part I.D. question. I won a 1/72 pontoon bridge of "the bay" and the seller sent me a 1/76 scale pontoon bridge. I messaged him with a "what gives?", and he said that the 1/72 pontoon and the 1/76 pontoon was the same kit in two different boxes. Is he telling the truth, or just trying to get rid of me? Thanks guys!

It is the truth, i too have the bridge with the 1/76- and the 1/72 scale box, they are the same scale. Just different boxes.

A lot of Airfix military kits were made to the same scale as OO model railways which is 1/76th scale but the bulk of their aircraft range were 1/72nd scale. The short answer is that manufaturers often fudge the scale indicated on the box to make the kits fit their marketing purposes.

How about this part on the 32" Falcon?

Stefan,

The picture is (among other places) at Modeler Magic, thanks to Kurt Kuhn. There are a couple of other good pics of it there too.

I have attached the urls here as the pictures are too large to upload with this post.

It looks similar to the thrusters on the Apollo Command Module. The end however look somewhat off (and it would be too easy!).

Cheers,
Stefan
