The Old Republic Darth Malgus Costume Progress

First this thread is being posted here because he has not been in any movies unless you count the CG Animations for The Old Republic, Secondly most people I have talked to refer to him as Darth Malgus or Lord Angral. Now I'll be unfortunatly getting myself bodycasted this weekend which will be fun, took out a $2,000 loan to pay for all my materials. I'll sculpt the mask first, then the rest of the body armor, then what looks like the padding last, The armor will be molded with Rebound 25 and casted with Smooth-Cast 320 and the black ribbed areas will be done with Flex Foam. Altogether I expect this project to take 6 Months to 1 year to go from bodycast to finished costume. Tell me what you think I'll start posting pics of my progress as soon as I get the bodycast done hopefully this weekend.

Darth Malgus is an awesome character (in the trailers). Really looking forward to this. I will follow this with great interest.

Thanks for finding that trailer, there's actually two TOR Trailers that I know of that he is in Decieved and Hope, in Hope he is not wearing the mask. So I'm guessing it either becomes damaged at one point or it's because of the type of oxygen.
 
Well the Hope trailer takes place before Decieved chronologically so maybe the damage he gets in hope is why he has to wear a mask, good luck with making this, I look forward to seeing your progress I'm in the process of doing a costume from Hope as well (the Sith warrior that almost executes that Republic trooper) so its good to see someone else bringing another TOR costume to life, theres even a lady here doing the bounty hunter from decieved
 
The "regular" Jedi and Sith armor just cries out: Foam Armor Project!! to me.

Good luck, that costume has a lot going on - can't wait to see your progress.

Might do the regular Jedi as my first foam armor project - Harbor Freight Tools awaits! :)
 
Hmmm... I must admit to being slightly disappointed in Bioware with this one. He looks suspiciously like a mash-up of Darth Malak from Knights of the Old Republic and Darth Vader.

Still, I'll keep an eye on this thread to see how the costume comes out.
 
This has potential to be an epic build! I love how this character looks like Vader if he ditched the upper portion of his helm and modified his armor, etc... still similar vibe.

Yeah that's exactly what happened, I've been following this game very closely and I am really looking forward to the results.

I agree....isnt that original. What Malak could have been with better CGI.
Lucasarts dont seem to be doing anything original these days like Mauls brother in the clone wars cartoon....sheesh.

I look forward though to this project as it looks like vagabon is going full out to get this right!
 
Full out is right I was planning to do a full body cast to make a postivie with but I decided against it I'll hopefully have images of my bust and head tomarrow and then if I have enough bandages I'll get my arm or arms done as well. I'm also looking into machining shops to have the lightsaber milled out of aluminum or steel rod, I'm sure there has to be someone on here that does it but not sure where to look.
