Not really. 'Ship of the Line' is an old naval term from Sailing Vessels. A ship that could take place in a battle line. Also called 'Battleships'. Its just a fancy (but valid) term.

Yes.

The full old term from the time of sail was 'First-Rate Ship of the Line'. Enterprise has always been pretty much the 'Flagship' of the Federation in any iteration. Flagship in modern Naval parlance refers to any ship where the Battle Group Admiral's flag is hoisted ( Flag Officer, et al...). In Star Trek, the meaning is different.

doesn't look quite so bad. The side elevation looks almost decent.

It might grow on me after a while. We'll see.

Yeah this is an offshoot of the "Ships of the Line calendar that Doug has been contributing to.
This will give him somewhere to display these CG models he has built over the years. I keep expecting one to show up deep in the rag tag fleet on BG (Maybe one has and I just missed it/)

I also hated this design when i first saw it. I also hated Voyager and NX-01 too. Since then though it has grown on me unlike Voyager and the nx-01 which I still hate. It doesn't really look Trek though. Damn Berman/Braga. :angry
