I've been wanting to make this for a long time but all the files I saw out there were not as accurate as I would have liked until I saw this one. This version has gears and tabs that hold the hinges closed (not spring loaded though, ill get to that later on) I had to resize it though, I used the measurements from the prop store when they sold the hero book a while back. I scaled all the parts to 96.92% and printed them. Printed the covers and pages on my filament printer and the hinges and spine parts on my resin.
Then the long process of sanding and puttying begun.....
Painted all the hinges gloss black to prep for the polished brass Don't worry I fixed the layer lines on this one =)
Painted them using Alclad II polished brass but I ran out with a few more parts to go. I didn't know that it is a discontinued color now but I found the replacement here.
See fixed!
I've finished a few pages and weathered them. The pic makes the layer lines stand out more than in person.
I just have 2 more pages and the covers left to sand a weather. I do have a question, how should I go about making the hinges spring loaded so when I turn the dial they pop open? Here are all the components for the hinges
Ill update as I get more done! Thanks for the help!
