The long wait for The Hand Of God ("3:10 To Yuma")

To make a long story short, my favorite movie gun is "3:10 To Yuma"'s The Hand Of God. It's one of my favorite movies, and the gun basically symbolizes Ben Wade's subtle but dramatic awakening throughout the movie.

I wanted a real Colt for what would become my replica. (After a wait, they're not that easy to get brand new.) When I first got it in January it looked like this;

I loved it, but as it turned out, the gun was actually made in 2007. Since I'm definitely the first owner, it's a bit of a mystery where it had been sitting, but it did take a little wear, and had a few issues that needed to be addressed by Colt. So back to them it went, for over six months.

In October it came back looking like this;

It had a complete refinish while at Colt. I like this case-hardening better.

After having it only a week or so I sent it to Joe Perkins of Outlaw Grips. On 12/21 (no that's not a joke, for me, The Hand Of God came on 12/21.) it came back looking like this; (as well as having a complete action job and custom springs installed.)

Needless to say, I'm quite happy.

I love the Hand of God! I originally bought a cheap Uberti and had Joe make me a pair of grips. After seeing his work, I decided to buy another one but this time using a US Firearms SAA (same model as the movie). Just got it back in early December as well

Can't recommend Joe enough. Very professional and does fantastic work!!

Here's some pics of mine. The Uberti will be for shooting while this one will sit in it's case

That's beautiful! Is that a Ghormley holster rig? I want one, but all in time. I have a E.M.F. Pietta I'm thinking of sending to him. But the Colt really needs to be a shooter. I can't really see spending the money and not shooting it. I just mean for me personally. I'd like it to develop a little patina, like the movie guns.

Yup. The holster is a Ghormley holster. I had him make it in the same size he made for Russel Crowe. I don't store either pistol in the holster now due to the potential of rusting so it's just sitting in my cabinet at this point haha

Simply beautiful, PG....I envy you.

Like Mtrixman, I bought a cheapo Uberti to convert; although the Colt would be my first choice, since money is an issue nowadays, I'll probably go with the US Firearms, since it was the movie gun...and, even that clone is a chunk o' change.

It wouldn't be much of a problem, but I blew my fun-money wad on my Thompson M1A1 a few years back (and yeah, .45 ACP is no joke, lol)...now, I have to build it back up, before I can think of buying more firearms!

There were 11 copies authorized and made by Doug Turnbull in Holcomb NY. Originally he did the cold bluing on the original gun. He got the contract to build what becam 11 more. All replica's with individual manufacturing numbers. His smith did the replica's. Originally there wer 4 gunsmith that worked on the iriginal gun, he was 1 of the 4. The cross and grips were on the replica's were also done by those smith's. I'm not sure if the original gun was a reproduction frame or an original LC Colt 45. But the replica's were exact. Turnbull is a master and known for his work.
