There you go with "PROOF OF CONCEPT" again. Why dont you explain to me what it is you want me to explain to you??

I dont know what you mean by "PROOF OF CONCEPT"...

what's the estimated date of completion of this? i hope it doesn't take too long that we can't see it. :(

"HEAVY", "HEAVY", "HEAVY", "HEAVY".... God, that's all Im hearing. The Steel will be too heavy.... Yeah Yeah Yeah, I get it. Anyone have anything new to say?

(Bearing in mind I just made a solid steel right arm cage that ONLY WEIGHED 2lbs, sure, sure, the end concept must end up weighing 4,000lbs, right?...................)

Like I said. Anything new?

I for one would love to see a video of your actuators in action.

Yep - a test joint - elbow, shoulder, knee etc, with the control system. How does the suit know to move with the person and not oppose the force of your body moving, but to work against the force of lifting a heavy weight?.

How will you fit the rockets into the boots you posted - do you have a design for a compact jet?

blueprints. he would like to see blueprints - concept designs, how each part will look, be attached to each other, move...etc. he would like to see metaphysical equations of your project, computations of factors that will give effect to your "suit". in short, the actual working plans...so it would be believable.

^^^^^^
HOLY FRIJOLE XROBOTS.

Every time you post something my mind gets blown. Seriously dude, glad you're here, never stop.

well...that dude shoulda went with that comment on youtube and converted to c-3po wouldve been spot on

and ironpatriot id like to see more updates photos when i wake up haha

An anodized metal C3PO costume would be mind blowing. ...And probably very uncomfortable.

Honestly, if he did this, just one robot-assisted elbow, for under... say... $150, he'd be an internet sensation AND would instantly have:

  • a proof of concept
  • a better understanding of how he will have to build the armor shell to accommodate the actuators
  • a badass robot arm

James... you really are an inspiration. Is there nothing you can't do. BTW Patriot. This is a prime example of just how complex this sort of stuff is... Just to make a android take a few steps is quite the involved and most likely costly process.

I really don't see you creating a fully power exoskeleton.. because like someone mentioned before.. the government with all their money has yet to produce anything even close.

However if you continue building the parts in steal this will be a great suit for you to wear uncomfortably or display nicely in your house.

...or a block diagram of your control system would be interesting. Considering I built these (yes they are 5ft tall), I'd like to know how your PID control and dampening will work on something of the size and weight you are planning:

I have lots blueprints, but I'm not going to give those away. One of the reasons why I purposely post small pics on here is so that no one can copy my work.

If you want a metal suit like mine, you just gotta WING-IT.

This is the closest thing to blueprints I'll give you:

Yeah i think that with some time and money (lots of it) this suit might turn out to be something. im pumped. cant wait to see alot more pictures

You know, actually, I was just thinking...

XRobots, would you be willing to give the "Robot test arm" a shot? You seem to know what you're doing, and seem to have most of the parts lying around. (I only ask because I want something awesome to happen asap).

I also kinda want to take a run at it... but you know, after I graduate and have money.

Are you asking for me to make a power assist arm?

EDIT: or Tony Stark's Robot arm (with the fire extinguisher?)

oh, the power assist arm. I'm just saying you totally have 90% of the stuff, and it'd be cool. Like I said, I actually kinda want to make a basic low-output power assist arm (no mega-strength, just setting up the feedback systems so it mimics your motion while you're wearing it), but as I said, I'm not in the financial or residential situation for it at the moment.

I reiterate: building this stuff is possible, just not with the capabilities that IronPatriot is expecting to achieve. Especially when trying to cram it into an Ironman suit shell.

Dummy the Fire Extinguishing Robot Arm would be pretty cool too though. No one has one of them. Kinda surprised no one's built one (minus the inexplicable AI, of course).

I could probably build a power assist arm/limb etc if I really wanted, but it's still a complicated thing to control from human movement - I'd rather make it like a power loader from Aliens with joysticks and mechanical grippers which would make things easier... but really it's not a project I want to start right now.

Understandable.

but if you ever do, you better let us know.

There you go again with the "ADVANCED ACTION SUIT" Thing. Is there a link to that?

I need to know what the hell you're all talking about.

Just by reading the " My homemade Advacnded action suit" thread would learn people how to NOT come out as a lunatic..

Try READING the other posts.

Always good advice.

You've shown yourself to have a talent with metal working. But, like the OP in the above thread, you haven't yet demonstrated any expertise in the technological disciplines required to complete a "suit" that will do what you claim it will.

Awww man - I come to the party all late and it looks like the OP has edited out all his pics. I'm genuinely interested, let's see some updates and put some pics back!

it would seem he's doing the internet version of sulking.... he did the same in his last thread, when people started disagreeing with him he edited everything out and ran away....then came back with this...

the circle is now complete
