The I HATE PAWN stars thread!

i li e pawn stars..... no one holds a gun to the sellers heads, dont accept the offer ...walk simple as that. especialy like when they get experts in to advise. never is the true value covered up.... but like is usualy stated. when sold at auction , commision comes off that and these guys have to earn a crust.... simple buisness is all.

No, no you must HATE them.

Honestly.. such hostility over a TV show.

Isn't there enough hate in the world over stupid ****?

We were in Vegas earlier this month and popped into the shop for the heck of it. There were tour busses dropping off people, a concession stand in the parking lot and a line waiting to get inside. Once inside, there were tons of employees there to simply sell the Pawn Stars t-shirts, bobble heads, and other novelty/tourist items. I bet they make more money on that stuff than on anything else. More power to them!

You guys do know it is all fake, right? They rent stuff from prop shops and take things from museums and have "actors" bring them in to "sell".

HAHAHAHAHA frakking awesome. *shrugs* oh well I still like this show. Its something entertaining to watch before Eureka and Warehouse 13 come on. My aunt lives in vegas so maybe next I visit her I'll drop by the store for kicks and giggles.

2 observations:

1) That's kinda sad that the folks doing the editing couldn't do a better job faking that scene.
2) Dang, that girl was pretty cute. I really should watch this show more....

:lol:lol:lol I have never seen this show, but wow, that acting is as painful as that other Pawn Store show.

Nice catch on the Beretta 92 switchout...

Here is another example of how fake these shows are. On "Sons of Guns" they hype how powerful a 50 cal desert eagle is and how the girl is going to fire it. Then when she does, oops, it's actually a Smith & Wesson 9mm she is firing.(at 1:28) But of course she is impressed with how powerful it is!
Nice Try Discovery Channel, At 1:28 You Can See She’s Not Firing A Desert Eagle [VIDEO]

That's probably because the producers decided to film a closeup as a pickup scene, and the woman with the DE wasn't available that day, so they faked it.

It's fairly common in tv to go back after the original footage is recorded and add a scene or two, such as closeup or insets.

Hmmmm let me see if I understand this....They built up the story of her firing the Desert Eagle, and then they missed the shot of her firing the 50 cal and needed to do a pick up.
Yeah, sure, you go on believing that....
You don’t happen to work for these clowns do you?

Art and I enjoy watching Pawn Stars but it kills us when we see people take ridiculously low prices on items and we sit there telling them (through the tv of course cause they can hear us) to sell it on ebay! :lol

Have you ever worked in tv or video? It OFTEN happens that the original footage recorded isn't 100% right, and the production team has to film pickups and such. Not just on shows like this.

I'm sure any of the members here who DO work in film or tv can attest to this. So instead of being a smart-ass, why don't you do a little research?

Well in my 30 years in film and TV (first film was "Dead men don't wear plaid", latest Transformers 3 and Apollo 18) I'm sure I noticed pick up shots before and why they needed them.
Also, having had a number of meetings about a reality show about me, I have also seen all the made up BS conected with these shows. So, I'm gonna stick with made up BS on this one. If you don't mind.

I'm so glad that Son's of Guns got brought up!

That show is awful. There's so much acting and fake garbage on it. The only guy at the shop who is not an idiot is the actual gunsmith. The boss's ego has been getting bigger and bigger and bigger, so he's becoming more of a jerk with every episode.

Also, they seem to make up some excuse to blow something up every episode. The rig something with explosives then blow it up when they shoot it. Then what do they do? They pretend it was the bullets that caused the explosion!

It's really too bad because every now and then they actually work on some pretty cool guns.

Now, Pawn Stars is awesome. People in Vegas are already stupid. They go, then spend a ton of money on booze and gamble their money away. Then they get desperate and sell whatever they have at the pawn shop. It's really a perfect business model, perfect location, perfect customers. People who are desperate to sell, and people easily parted from their money.

Don't get mad at me or say I don't know what I'm talking about. My wife and I used to live in Vegas, less than three miles from the strip. We don't drink, smoke, gamble, or anything like that, but we liked to walk the strip. It's a fun place to people watch if you can get out of the secondhand smoke, and there's plenty of really fun stuff to do that's not one of life's vices.

I like watching sons of guns for all the cool weapons, but I HATE the people. The only guys that dont seem to care about the cameras and is legit is Vince and Joe. Everyone else are idiots. The boss seems like he's a know it all but comes off as an idiot, the forensic expert looks like seth rogen but has half the IQ, that one dude with the feau-hawk probably spends half the morning in front of the mirror for the show and hams it up for the camera all the time and the daughter.....well she's cute.

To those of you who think pawn shops rip people off..

You DO realize nearly everything you buy has a minimum of 100% markup right? I hope none of you have bought ANY form of jewelry (including engagement or wedding rings) at a jewelry store, because if so, you paid on average a 600% markup, and sometimes over 1000% markup. You DO know that diamonds should be almost worthless right? That's why my wife's wedding ring has pink sapphires (besides the fact that we wanted something different and she likes pinks and purples), the inflation isn't nearly as ridiculous on these gems as it is on diamonds. I hope none of you have ever bought clothing, because if so, you paid on average a 300% markup, and if you buy popular name brands, you're looking at 800% markup. Furniture carries on average a 600-800% markup, so unless you're sitting, eating and sleeping on the floor, you should re-consider how horrible pawn-shops are for selling things at 100% markup.
