The Hand of Yoda (Updated: w/Light-up lightsaber)

Re: The Hand of Yoda (restored from scratch - worth reading)

That looks great! I can't tell in the pictures, but you could add a few layers of high gloss fingernail polish to the eyes to give it a bit more realism as well. Or,if his head is hollow you could even go with glass eyes.

Alright, so I got a little bit courage and added some nail gloss to the eyes (I thought it could take the paint off or something). It improved a little bit; not as good as glass eyes, but good enough.

Excellent manooga . . . well done indeed ... your skills are
improving perhaps just a little bit of satin gloss on the nails?

Hello Chaim, thank you :) oh, right, actually I did add some gloss to the nails when I made the eyes. This is how it looks like now:

I've got to HAND it to you—that is an excellent resto. You are obviously very HANDy with these materials, likely having had a HAND in several such projects in the past. :D

Indeed a lot better manooga ... perhaps upon closer inspection of your pictures you might add a little darker shading colour between the lips? ... Or even better with your skills why not open them up a little ... with a bit of teeth showing?

Hahaha you're going too far there Chaim. I don't want to change it that much, otherwise I'll end ruining it all.

Actually I never did something like this before, that's why I never thought it would come out that good.

Re: The Hand of Yoda (restored from scratch - worth reading)

That came out looking superb, congratulations on a job well done!

Re: The Hand of Yoda (restored from scratch - worth reading)

Thank you guys all for the cheers and good comments, they do mean to me.

Re: The Hand of Yoda (restored from scratch - worth reading)

Looks very good. Maybe you've discovered a skill you didn't know you have.......

Re: The Hand of Yoda (restored from scratch - worth reading)

So, for the hand thing, I already had a plan to rebuild it, without knowing if I would be able to make it.

Big smile when I read this. Such the spirit of this place! There's a moment in every project where I think we've all felt this way. Glad you gave it a shot! Turned out great!

Hey manooga if you search amazon.com for "Educational Products - Light Up Laser Lightsaber Sabre Sword 29" you'll find the cheap LED blades I mentioned earlier.

Aah you're right! I just need to find one that can be shipped to Mexico. I also came across an Uncle Milton roomlight. Do you think that one can fit? I saw one once and they are smaller than lifesize, so it might be just fine for Yoda.

Re: The Hand of Yoda (restored from scratch - worth reading)

I had a blue one for ages just like but cannot locate it to measure. I think the yoda hilt you have is already wider than this toy. Plus you could always hide the batteries elsewhere. I think they only take one or two AAs.

His original saber blade looks like its just paint inside a clear tube and isn't doing your Yoda justice in my opinion.

I agree. I already ordered an Uncle Milton from Amazon. It was on sale, so I had to go for that one. I'll keep you updated on the progress very soon.

Updated with light-up lightsaber. I do need some help there; I'm not really satisfied with the result :(
