The Guyver *Completed*

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Aight.... I need some help. My batch of paint was shxt so I bought another type. Just one can of course.... it darkens the blue a lot but has metal flakes in it so it's kinda cool. Question is how do I bring the details out now? Do you think using black for the veins would show enough with how dark the color is now? I really want to try the airbrush and making them thicker black lines.....

Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated. I only have to do one coat thankfully...

I thought you were going to black wash all of the parts to really bring out those details and cracks.

Its a darker blue..... not organic with the look as it was.... I should just try it but I don't think they are thick enough to make an impact.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Ugh my post didn't post. Well I basically said about black washing to bring out the details but the thing that might not work is if the spray you used is glossy then the wash will pool and not dry the way you want it too. You may have to hand paint it using a dry brush of sorts so its not a pure line. Also I would go for a very dark blue rather than black so it doesn't look to cartoony, unless that's the effect you want.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Since this paint was in stock....decided to try to get as much done as I could tonight.

Everything on is still not attached.... Upper mobility sucks so I'm going to have to modify the biceps and the forearms some more.

And yeah.... still need the blades, gloves, feet, knees, install chest lights and paint details.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

wow dude, just wow.... thats some fantastic work to quote one of my fav films I'd buy that for a dollar!

Re: Guyver *WIP*

Golly! That looks really cool!
You could use some knee pads, but that is the only suggestion I can make.

Re: Guyver *WIP*

And I would buy your Green Lantern for the same! :lol

:eek Wasn't expecting that one!

I'm a huge guyver nut though so this is like my ultimate! I'm nowhere near able to pull it off in foam though one for future attempt

Re: Guyver *WIP*

How have I not seen this before?! Amazing work. I'm currently working on my own Guyver 1 suit for a fan film. Helmet is sculpted and ready to be moulded :)

The helmet you used, is that the one that's been floating about ebay as a resin kit that's been modded into a wearable piece? Just because in the recent pics of you wearing the armour your neck seems quite long. The original helmets in the movie had the wearer look out from the space the control medal is held, this allowed the eyes to be lit up and was placed further down the head, shortening the neck so to speak, and the helmet was more circular and not as elongated.

That image shows what I mean. I imagine once the neck is covered and you've added the throat peice and the tubes it'll take away the long neck look, but just something I thought i'd enquire about.

Not taking anything away from your build though, totally amazing work and made me seriously consider taking the foam route myself instead of sculpting everything seperately.

Once hes wearing a proper undersuit with a collar/hood under the helmet I can't imagine it'll notice or be an issue and with proper neck armour in place...

I had one of those helmets your referring to and the vision was out of the control medal area but was via a bunch of small drilled holes it was cool that the helmet sat lower and the eyes lit up but honestly I couldn't see a thing out of it! So I'd almost prefer the comfort doing it this way personally... Not sure if having the eyes light up is going to be possible though which would be a real shame.

Have to distract with light up and sound generating mega smasher under the peck plates yes yes!

Re: Guyver *WIP*

I look away for like 2 seconds and you progress by leaps and bounds. Nice job! I'd love to see a shot of the chest with the lights on; I bet it'd look amazing.

Yeah... the helmet is an ebay cast. It just so happened that JF was working on the templates so I decided I needed a suit too... lol. Great input on the helmet. I have the suit memorized because of how much I've look at them but neglected the helmet. There is a lot of things not right or proportional but the suit will probably only be worn once for about an hour and then sold cheap or bagged up...Then helmet will be shelved. Makes me want to see if I can make it visible where it should be though..... just need the time.

I did buy LEDS for the eyes... I tried James Iron man light up sunglass style with them and I didnt think it showed up enough to make an impact. They"ll be chrome eyes with black honeycomb netting over them.

I'm going to Naka-Kon in Overland Park Kansas in March so I will have to find some time between college, work, and family to finish this...Hopefully the convention peeps will dig it. :D

Thanks everyone!
