Hello guys how are ya??

I just got the goonies today on VHS and i am quite dissapointed it is DIGITALLY PROCESSED!! (Doesnt look/sound any better than watching it on DVD (Not good in my opinion (Analogue is MUCH better))

It doesnt sound as good as it would if it wasnt digitally compromised... I havent ever really seen this movie and i would LOVE seeing it as it was MEANT TO BE SEEN (In analogue video/audio (Like it was 1985))


Does anyone know if there is a VHS release of this movie that IS NOT DIGITAL ANYTHING??

Im sick of good movies being destroyed with this digital crap,i really am!!

Maybe search for a screening at an Indi or retro cinema somewhere. Even if you find a VHS that hasnt deteriorated to the point of being unwatchable, I doubt the makers would feel its the best way to experience the movie for the first time. Just my 2 cents. Beta`s better anyway

Good call, thats definately the way to go Dude111. Ive still got my SVHS player buried somewhere. Getting all nostalgic now, might have to put on the old tape of the first screening of Blade Runner on Oz TV with all the ads still in, if I can remember how to plug it all up.:rolleyes

Indeed.......... I love my VCR... I really do not like DIGITAL MEDIA @ all...... It doesnt look or sound anywhere near as good as analogue does!!!!

Its a shame all these movies FOR NO REASON have been ruined!!

The terminator was ruined when they thought they should change the soundtrack. PIECE OF CRAP... Im glad i have the original copy on tape!!

Dont shoot the messenger, its the Studios issue if they make unwarrented changes, not the medium you view them on. I could never give up my Blu Ray player, never...until the next tech leap anyway.

If the VHS isn't good for you, give it a try on Capacitance Electronic Disc...

I just dont see why they feel the need to mess with the original movie,it ultimatly makes it worse!!!!! (In my opinion)

I still have a VHS of Return of the Jedi when I taped it off TV sometime in the mid 80's, It's great and the adverts shown in the breaks are amazingly nostalgic.

Yea i have done some looking and found that MOST MOVIES that are "Digitally mastered" the in states here,ARE NOT IN OTHER COUNTRIES!!

Example: I found THE GOONIES in CANADA that IS NOT DIGITALLY MASTERED but its PAL format... Does anyone know anything about PAL??

I did some reading and it basically says most players probably wouldnt be able to play PAL...... I dont see why,PAL is analogue right?? (ON VHS) -- Analogue is NOT ENCRYPTED so it should play on anything that renders analogue media......

PAL is just a broadcast standard, the video frequency is different than NTSC used in the US. It's probably made from the same master. Visually there's no difference.

"Digitally Processed" simply means it was made from a digital master tape, not that it was altered in any way. The film was transferred to digital video, which was then transferred to the VHS.

Thank you..... Maybe ill try getting one of them and see if it plays...

And the quality of the picture SUFFERS when digital is used.... Digi is NOT analogue and will not produce as good sound/colours.....
