The Fifth Element - Prop Purchase Advice

Greetings, all. I need some help with something.

My Birthday is coming up, and I'm weighing-up what prop(s) to buy for myself. I've realised I have no props from The Fifth Element (The Fifth Element being one of my favourite movies of all-time), and I think it's about time I got some.

Basically, it's either (I wish it could be both, but I will buy the other later) the 4 Element stones or Korben's blaster. The stones will be from The Monster Company, and the Korben blaster from HCG. I have to admit, the stones seem more iconic to the film, to me, but I have never bought from The Monster Company, so anyone had any dealings with them before, and how did it go?

I've seen images on the website of the stones, but they don't really look like 'stones'; they look shiny (and I don't mean that in 'verse slang :lol) and one of them looks a little warped. On the other hand, the stone pictures of the ones that are sold as individuals look very nice. Just the photo of all four doesn't seem all that good to me, especially not for the price.

Now, as for Korben's blaster, limited to 1000 pieces etc. I should really go for that first (as I've always wanted Korben's blaster, ever since I first saw the film), but I'm still not sure.

What I'm asking is: what is your opinion; what should I buy? The 4 stones or Korben's blaster, and why? Also, how are The Monster Company?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'd go for the stones. And if they are shiny, a coat of matt sealer should fix that.

Also we will be producing a licensed version of the 4 stones early next year and have a set of hero stones to mold them from. The stones you mentioned are a little small compared to the real ones too. We are currently working on a cool display for them so it won't just be the 4 stones.

I've bought from the Monster Company and met them at cons, didn't have any problems. I know they sell some recast pieces, but I don't know the origin of the Fith Element stuff. The quality of the Iria pistol I got from them was good.

You might want to drop a PM to Zorg, I think he's still a member here. He's from the UK and knows his 5th Element stuff, he could probably advise you.

I'd vote for the blaster too, for a number of reasons. First up, it's a limited edition. They'll sell out eventually. Second, the stones up for sale right now are of questionable history. I personally dont' think they are from screen used stones. I say that becuase they don't match ANYTHING that you see on screen. Some say they are "stunt" stones. They may as well be playground stones for all I care, as they don't match screen caps. And yup, they're a little warped.

I haven't seen the stones that the Hollywood folks will be offering, so I cannot comment. However, you can ALWAYS get a warped, poorly painted, non screen accurate set of stones. Accurate korben blaster, cast from the original?? Maybe not so often

Of course, you MUST purchase a multipass kit from that MattMunson character. That's the foundation of any Fifth Element collection
