The "Fair" and "Forcing" Lights/Sounds to come on ships

Hello All:

Over the weekend, I took my family to our local county fair and they had a hobby exhibit area where dozens of individuals brought their personal collections of just about everything and exhibited them in glass cases...such as collection of GI Joe action figures, X-Files stuff, Disney stuff, and someone got an award for bringing in a collection of Staplers made in the USA--anyways, it got me thinking of exhibiting my collection of Star Trek toys (Playmates, DST/AA) and other Star Trek stuff I've collected over the years.. but one thing I would like to do, is hook up the toys somehow via some sort of power adapter and alter them internally so that the lights/sounds for the ships (playmates, DST/AA) and phaser/tricorders/communicators continously run /play---any ideas on how to do that ? I think I can remove the AA batteries and manually solder some cables to point for a 9 volt adapter, but...that won't replicate the buttons being pushed...

any ideas ? want to share my collection to the world (and over 100,000+ attendees at the next county fair)

Thanks
D.Lee

One possibility would be to record each toy's sounds on a cheap digital recorder, and play the recordings near each ship (continually or by press of a button).

I've seen people do this with the voice boxes of toy robots, so the robot can be displayed in a case but you still have access to hear what it sounds like.

Nice idea, but you wouldn't want the phasers going off constantly (surely)!

I think that would necessitate some kind of circuit which pulsed every so often to simulate the trigger being pushed. Say, once a minute. And set them all to slightly different periods (time delays) so that the order of sounds mixes up naturally as the day goes on, to stop it getting boring.

Hello:

I was thinking--how to make the lights for the phasers and ships to keep lighting up without running out of batteries and someone holding down the buttons ?

Thanks
