The Dark Knight Rises (Post-release)

Re: if this film ended 4 minutes earlier it would have been perfect

It isn't really robin. It seemed to me more like a joke for fans. Albeit a bad one. It's just new Batman, that's the point of the whole trilogy is that Batman is anybody.

I dont agree :p i think he is the Robin we all know, we shall See what the future brings :p
I have a smalle hope this wont be the last one :rolleyes very small hope

Nah, I'm with Benhs on this. If he was going to be Robin then it would defeat the purpose of Gotham's protector and symbol of Batman. Besides why would he want all the work of making people see that he is a symbol for justice and not just another clown when he can just carry on the legacy. Do you think he would actually have an alter ego with his real name?!

I did like the subtle hints at Catwoman being bisexual...

...so did the guys I saw the movie with!! LOL!!
That part - and a lot of the Selina background stuff seemed to be taken directly from Batman: Year One (which would've been the perfect template for Bat-flicks).

...and :confused

If it was the Robin we all know than his name would have been Dick Grayson.

If he was Robin then his first name wouldn't have been Robin. He'll be Nightwing or a different variations of Batman. Azraels version or Batman Beyond or something new.

Nope, Bruce flat out says it in the movie. "It doesn't matter who wears the mask, batman is a symbol." Something like that.

Yes and he says something similar in Batman Begins before he creates the persona. 'As a symbol, I can be everlasting'

I don't even get how it's any sort of debate: Blake becomes the next Batman, period.

Revealing that John Blake's birthname was really 'Robin Blake'? That was just a wink to the audience, nothing more.

I usually don't like stories that have someone besides Bruce Wayne in the cape and cowl, but as this is Nolan's version of Batman, and he does take some liberties with the character, I find this case perfectly OK. It's not like it changes anything in the comics we all know and love. Think of it as an 'Elseworld Tale'. We have seen the end of Nolan's Batman story and I thought it was pretty damn awesome

I think it was awesome that Sean Connery lent the voice of Bane!

I was hoping he'd say "I'll take the rapists for 300." And then Alex Trebeck would pop in and reply, "That's therapists."

I thought it was Ian McKellen in a ball gag! I read on IMDB he based the voice on an Irish gypsy bare knuckle brawler.

I liked the movie. Not as well as the first two, but a better wrap-up of a trilogy than Spider Man or the SW prequels, for sure. I thought so much more could have been done with Bane. I think Hardy had a hard time emoting with his eyes, until his last scene.

I actually had a hard time making out what Bane was saying at some points.

One thing I didn't get was how Bruce seemingly recovers from the lack of cartilage in his knees by the end of the movie. This may have been discussed earlier in the thread but I haven't gone through all of it. It made sense at first with the knee brace, but after he was captured by Bane, the brace must have been taken away. Yet he somehow manages to climb out of the pit. As far as I know cartilage doesn't grow back. I could be wrong though.

He did have a whole 5 months or so to recover.I'm sure they couldnt explain or try to explain everything. Remember this is a movie of fiction and not a documentary.

Yeah, but he quit for 8 years because of his knee, and walked with a cane. Then suddenly, Tadaa! fixed.

Well the Box Office is in. DKR made $161 million. On a budget of $250 million. More than I thought it would.

[ This compares to The Avengers opening of $207 million US, $173 Million Non-US. Total gross $613 Million US, $1,440 million Worldwide. ]

Yeah I thought the 'Robin' thing was strange. If it was robin she would've said Dick but then that could mean something but it could be anything. I wish it wasn't a joke because the whole audience fell for it, including myself. Over all, an epic way to send the off the Nolan films. I hope there isn't a reboot , these films set the bar high (in my opinion) and anything else wouldn't be as great.

I don't think he quit because of his knee - Fox would have come up with the brace faster if that had been the situation. I think that losing Rachel and taking the blame for Dent's murders (which, as an aside, really should have been attributed to the Joker rather than Batman) caused him to hang up the cape.

Comparisons between the success of this and The Avengers are going to be inevitable however, if you're going to compare it to the Avengers you have to remember that The Avengers was in 3D which meant higher ticket prices. I think I saw on Movie Math on youtube that the 3D ticket prices accounted for $35 million of the Avengers box office. So if you wanted to compare you'd do Avengers $207-$35= $172 still beats the bat slightly even without the 3D ticket prices but obviously there's been other tragic circumstances surrounding TDKR which has probably put people off going this opening weekend.

I can answer that. I have zero, and yes I mean zero cartilage in one knee thanks to a military injury. I need a knee replacement but am too young, so I will need to wait another twenty years for that, unless a better option is invented.

Sometimes I have a limp, and a cane does help. I never use it though, and provided I stay fairly active I am able to run and walk without a limp. It can be painful, but what he did with or without a brace and no cartilage is possible.

I can go a full hour of playing soccer, without stopping, of course later I am wishing for death until the pain meds or jacuzi eases the pain away.

Finally a movie that was full of satisfaction and a much better Story than Avengers! Bane vs Batman fight reminded me a lot of the fight Luke and Vader had in Empire Strikes Back. :thumbsup

Exactly!

We also had Ra's appear in Bruce's cell, telling him that there are "many forms of immortality."

All signs point to Blake going on to become the new Batman...PLUS Bruce installed a new BAT signal...not a ROBIN signal. (No Shumacher-movie jokes, please)

I thought the same thing. Bane had a lot of Vader in him, like killing his own guys who displease him (although by real choking and not force choking).
The first fight was like ESB, with all the talking and Bane, like Vader, having the upper hand and knowing it.
Then in the second fight, it was ROTJ. Not to mention Bane having difficulty breathing when his mask was damaged like Vader. I was almost expecting Batman to unmask him at the end. :lol "Let me breathe on you with my own mouth"
