Did anyone else feel like the movie was devoid of any Joy or Fun? To me the entire experience was depressing and lacking any real fun moments. Batman is so much fun. This movie wasn't fun for me. Such a huge downer. My LORD it was long.

I LOVE Batman. This movie didn't feel like a part of the first two films at all. To me. Lol.

Just a bummer of a movie. :-(

6. Did Bruce Wayne have a Bat-Teleporter? How'd he get back into Gotham?

It's reasonable to assume that during his time with the League of Shadows he was able to learn how to assume identities and acquire forged documents (per the "blending in" education he received during his training), at least enough to allow him to move around the globe with little to no money. He does also have a history of "stealing for survival," so that could have played into getting him enough money to make a one-way plane trip back home. Then it's just a matter of hitch hiking back to Gotham's borders once he lands state-side.

As far as getting back into Gotham, in particular, it's also reasonable to assume that he knows a fair more about his own city than Bane's forces do, so evading a guard force that's stretched thin (or otherwise placed at key entry points) should be easy enough for a ninja on his own turf. Sure, it's true that the bulk of Bane's army was made up of Gotham's inmates, but we can assume that low-level, poorly educated thugs tend to only familiarize themselves with a localized portion of their city, areas only large enough to operate successfully and efficiently within their respective crime organizations. So from a story-telling perspective, we can essentially rule out Bane's forces containing a significant number of members who know the city like Bruce Wayne would. He just had to go where they weren't. Of course, then you get into the idea of how well Bruce Wayne would know his own city, but with Wayne Enterprises having connections throughout the city, he should have at least enough logistical intel from his years spent as Batman that he could make intelligent decisions on entry points.

At least that's how I rationalize it. I think the point the audience was to understand wasn't so much how he got back to Gotham than it was that he got back to Gotham. The Batman is quite resourceful

Was the whole point of him giving up being a cop becaus the other cops followed orders and blew the bridge? I can understand his frustration - but, the position the cops on the bridge left them little choice.

Don't misunderstand me. I thought him throwing the badge away was a bit silly as well and I am not sure why that was the moment he chose to do it.

I think it was awesome that Sean Connery lent the voice of Bane!

I was hoping he'd say "I'll take the rapists for 300." And then Alex Trebeck would pop in and reply, "That's therapists."

I liked it, I thought Anne Hathaway was great and I was pleasantly surprised by JGL, I also thought Bruce got back to Gotham quickly but then, its a movie, although perhaps it would've been nice to see him 'hop on a train' or something? I enjoyed Hardy as Bane, although I too wish he wasn't dispatched so, cheaply?

I wasn't a bomb. It was a prototype fusion reactor. Wayne shut down the project when someone found a way to weaponize it. The same someone that Bane kidnapped and later dispatched after he had weaponized said reactor. This point was very thoroughly covered several times within the film.

It was also stated that the reason it was on countdown was because the core was destabilizing from not being connected to the rest of the machine. It was going blow up, detonators or not. That was also explained several times.

It wasn't a conventional nuclear bomb.

Blowing it up wouldn't have shut it down like a conventional nuke. Dropping it might have upset it but, I think that was the intention of the scene, suspense. If he had just hoisted it away and flown off it wouldn't have been as dramatic.

It's like Prometheus all over again. People not, or not wanting, to pay attention, and making up "problems" that never existed. :wacko

Well said, I know when i think of my top 10 movies, each one of them is so full of holes its like a swiss chess collection, take Buckaroo Banzai for example, I mean where do i start?, but at the end of the day, its much cherished.

The few things I did wonder about with DKR are minor issues as the characters and the story is STRONG, BELIEVABLE and WELL TOLD. I cared about the characters and what they were facing.

To be honest its not Batman the animated cartoon show. Its called the Dark knight for that reason so it did its job if you felt that way and didn't even know why. The trilogy was never supposed to be fun and happy neither were the comic books it was based on . The first two films had nothing to do with these at all .

I don't understand why he didn't just call Superman. He could have found the bomb by looking down from low orbit, flown down and grabbed it and tossed it into the sun, then frozen the river with his breath to let people cross it.

Then he could have just grabbed Bane by the face, flown him back to the prison in like, 4 seconds and dropped him back into the hole.

Problem solved.

It's just my opinion here, BUT I do feel that Batman should be a fun movie. I mean, who is the intended audience? DC will sell over a BILLION DOLLARS with of Batman toys this year alone, yet Im uncomfortable letting my kids watch The Dark Knight Rises.

When did Batman become so darned ominous? I remember fun, joyous scenes in every other Batman film.

It's only my opinion, but this was TOO dark. For me. I look forward to a more vibrant and fun reboot. One that I can enjoy more with the whole family!

I'm so bummed at this movie. :-(. I'll get over it. As I play with my Hot Toys Dark Knight. Hahaha

Heh heh... I have just been WAITING for TDKR to be compared to Prometheus as these were my two favorite movies of the summer.

Which was better? Neither. They were COMPLETELY different movies.

The Dark Knight Rises was a completely character driven movie. The story was much more about each character's arc than about the overriding story line (pick a random danger to Gotham and run with it... no one cares what the danger is).

Prometheus gave little concern at all to its characters and focused more on very broad themes and questions about life, mortality and the past. The people in it were more or less throwaways, much like the storyline in TDKR was a throwaway.

I enjoyed both on very different levels. I will be talking about Prometheus for a lot longer than TDKR, but in terms of a purely entertaining story, Batman takes it.

I wouldnt consider any of the Nolan films to be suitable for children, this became more apparent with each new movie. The story was born of violence and could only end that way. Of course, parents themselves are the only ones in a position to make that decision.

Frankly speaking (and in my ever humble opinion), the movie should've been rated R. We didn't get any swearing or nudity - but, the death toll was pretty high and quite a few of them were pretty visciously offed by Bane.

You're not getting it. He knew this film was going to be ominous. What chuck is saying is that he'd like to have had a batman film that he could have taken kids to.
