now say sorry. like you mean it!

For those that wonder about the Bat-pod vs the Tumbler. Well, the Bat-pod came from the Tumbler so it has the exact same frontal guns. And anyone with 1/8th of a brain can tell you that a tank provides a lot more armor/defense than a motorcycle.

That should explain things

IMO, a nod would have been JUST as respectful as NO mention. In fact, if I was gone, I think the implication that I lived on in my roles would be comforting.

I was disappointed. It would have been remarkably easy to show Bane opening all the cells at Arkham (and a good chance for a plethora of other references) and seeing the "Joker" cell open and the fleeting image of a person quickly emerging.

Ledger has been venerated for his role, he earned an Oscar post-humously, why pretend he never existed?

Nolan has gone on record saying ANY mention, any nod, any anything would have been in his eyes disrespectful to Heath. I'll defer to him on this one, but agree he'd have been at least seen in the movie if Heath hadn't died.

....How? Does this mean we should call Pixar out for disrespecting Jim Varney when they recast Slinky Dog with Blake Clark?

I honestly fail to see how even mentioning the Joker would be disrespectful. In the movie's context, it's a character, not the actor who played him.

I'm just going to put this out right now. If I star in a movie and I die a tragic death before the film's premier, DO NOT try to respect me by ignoring the character I played in a sequel. Recast the part, reference me like crazy, throw in flashback scenes, talk about my character's mother, ect. Last thing I want is for good people to go out of their way to not reference the character I played and than say it's out of respect just because I died. My friends, family and no doubt my fellow forum comrades (You guys are great!) would be disappointed if that were to happen to me. I know I would if it happened to one of my family members or friends.

Those are my wishes. Please respect them. You can even continue to mock and make fun of me on this forum if you want. :)

For some reason I like making my own assumptions about the Joker. I'm glad Nolan didnt reference him.

Does anyone remember what excuse Bruce Wayne gave to have a check-up with the doc in Commisioner Gordon's hospital? He wanted to know if he was fit enough to do some sort of extreme sport? LOL!!

His injuries seem pretty extreme though. No cartilage left in his knee(s)? Some sort of brain damage or concussion if I remember correctly? Cartliage does repair itself though very, very slowly (I think I remember reading this somewhere). By not donning the cape and cowl for 8 years, wouldn't he have been in better shape than worse?

Saw it Saturday. Loved it. The movie is such classic Nolan. He gives you EVERYTHING up front...and yet, as it all plays out I was still blown away. Nolan went into this franchise creating a 3-act piece.

Dark Knight Rises is the perfect "Prestige".

"Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called "The Pledge". The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course... it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn". The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige"."

I think this could be seen as another nod to a 4th film. Because if you show Joker in DKR then you open the door for, "He was in DKR why isn't he in Dark Knight Returns as a main villain?"

My list so far:
John Blake: Chosen by Bruce, established as not liking guns anymore, imbedded with wearing a mask, etc.
Gordon was mentioned as both resigning and being released by the mayor
Mayor is killed
R and D is exposed and new scientists are brought in.
Bruce still alive
Batsuit: Bane, presumably, destroys one and Bruce runs off with another. Setting up a new design perhaps.
Joker's absence

This is just my take, but I think they put a lot of work into setting up another film for a group who doesn't plan on another. I believe that Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne will not be Batman again, and that this is the end of his story.

I vote for a semi reboot and have JGL in a Batman Beyond suit in a future Gotham. Now semi because I want to see JGL in the bat suit but reboot to have no connection to Nolan other than the same actor.

I don't think I can be interested much if Bruce Wayne is not Batman.
That's the character I love, that passion doesn't extend to Nightwing or extended Bat-family crime fighters or future Bats or whatever. Starts to get too removed from the source material for me.

I thought, at first, that the last shot of the movie, with the big reveal, could be interpreted either way, that on one hand maybe it was JUST Alfred's fantasy (again) or that it was indeed confirmation of a confirmed "sighting." But clearly the earlier scene re: fixed auto pilot, urges us to believe the sighting at the end of the film is real. I actually wish it was left up to the viewer to interpret as he/she wishes...

The mention of the missing pearls in the estate reading lends creadance the cafe scene was real, Selene clearly had them on when you saw Bruce and her at the table.

I didn't think the story seeds they planted during the film were intended to be grown into another sequel - I just figured the point of them was to imply that the story wasn't going to end just because they stopped telling it.

As far as the validity of the Bruce Wayne sighting at the end of the film goes, I'm going to let that argument rest on Chekov's Autopilot.

Liked it, didn't Love it. If had a choice, I'd see Avengers again.

After they punched Bruce in the back to fix his spine, I was basically done.

You’re Not Crazy: Video Proves Bane’s Voice Was Remixed For THE DARK KNIGHT RISES | Badass Digest
This was one of the main distractions in TDKR for me, as Bane's voice mostly was way too clear, felt out of place and like it didn't blend with the surroundings.

Of course the IMAX screening footage is from a cam print hence the audio is little less audible.

With hundreds of bats flying around.

That was my first comment about the movie. I saw the opening scene SO MANY TIMES that when I heard the remixed voice it made me go :confused I still can't really grasp the voice in the opening scene. The rest of the movie sounds different than the opening. I hope to god They offer the both versions for the bluray.

I'm sorry, but we need evidence that shows it ISN'T real, not evidence to show it's real. It's real. That's the end. Really. Real. :facepalm

No, cartilage does not grow back. Once it's gone...it's gone, not to mention it was made pretty clear that he had been spending most of his time in a wing of Wayne Manor. He did not seem at all to be active, in fact he looked very weak when we first saw him.

It's amazing that Bane did not simply mutate him. Of course it did seem obvious in their initial fight that Bane toyed with him a lot.
