In the spirit of the Holiday Season, (and because so many already seem to have a RR bb gun ;) ), I thought I'd turn the Red Ryder offer from the JY into an old fashion RPF Active Project!

I'll provide a detailed step by step on how I made mine, I'll also provide the graphics you'll need as well, including the waterslide decal of the sundial. All you'll need to supply is a Red Ryder BB Gun, a few parts and a little skill. :)

Here's shots of my finished gun:

(Thanks WC for hosting!)

Just post here if you want in and we'll get this thing going!

Not sure what is involved in being in one of these, but I'd love to make one!

Basically it means we'll be building these together. The parts I don't supply I'll tell you where to find them and you provide your own Red Ryder BB gun.

A good time will be had by all! ;)

Thought I'd bump this up just so all those who want to be involved don't miss out. ;)

I'm in. I was actually looking at these tonight at Wal-Mart. Looks like something that someone with my limit abilites can do. :) Thanks!!

Saweeet! :)

First thing we're going to need, (for those who don't already have one), is the gun. You can find them a Wal-Mart in the sporting goods section. You'll want the Daisy Red Ryder model, of course! ;)

I'll start pulling together the items we'll need to build the compass and make the mods needed.

We'll officially kick this project off this Thursday! :)

I actually swung by my parent's house last night just to get my old red ryder.

Living in NYC, you can imagine the fun filled drive home I had with a big ol' BB rifle in the car :lol.

I repainted the bands, however, the newer guns don't come with the band at the end of the barrel, that has to be added on.

If anyone is interested I have the "official licensed limited edition" version of this item. I'd be happy to take some photo's if requested. It came from Rogers AK.
It's called "The Christmas Dream"

Post all the pics you can, HellGhost! every last bit helps.

My rifle doesn't have the barrel band so I'll need to get some brass strip. Maybe micromark has it. they have everything else.

Beeb, what did you use to paint the barrel/stock band? Rub'n'buff or something else?

Edit: Micromark does indeed have brass strip. .016" thick by 12" long in varying widths. pack of 15 strips is about $12. How wide are the barrel bands?

I used rub'n'buff. BTW, I'm planning to include the metal strip for the barrel in the "kit" I'm putting together. ;)

Thanks for offering the pics, HellGhost! I'd love to see 'em too! :) I've seen a few pics in the past of the one Daisy put out when the movie was released. I tryed to snag one of ebay a few time but alas, no luck, which is why I did the one I have. ;) One of the things I noticed in the pics I've seen is the compass being different sizes. I've seen pics with it the size I have mine and others where it's really small. I'm interested to see yours. :)
